Self Importance

You can do important work if you do not become self-important; you can do several things as easily as one if you leave yourself out.The Urantia Papers

self

When we have a balanced concept of our own selves, we can handle life and its vicissitudes just fine. We know how to be happy or at least we know what to do to be happy. If we have low self-esteem, we wallow in self-pity and we tend to lash out and blame others. We aren’t happy with who we are and that colors our world-view.

getting in our own way

There’s another way we can get in our own way. It’s when our ego gets too big, we deem ourselves so important that the self becomes the end itself. We focus on our needs constantly, we do that to the detriment of everything else important to our lives. If we leave ourselves out of any situation or undertaking, we can be far more efficient.

Daily Affirmation: Today I focus on others and the job at hand.

Come To Be…

To come to be you must have a vision of Being, a Dream, a Purpose, a Principle. You will become what your vision is.Peter Nivio Zarlenga

your vision

  • Do you have a vision for yourself?
  • What does it look like and feel like?
  • Are you able to describe your vision in an elevator ride to a stranger?

your purpose

Purpose and vision are intertwined. Life purpose may come first, then you can create a vision and follow it. Else maybe a dream emerges first? That can lead to your vision and your life purpose.

  • What do you truly want?
  • What in life, are you aching for?
  • What’s deep inside your heart, seeking expression?
  • How long will you ignore it?

FLaG It!

The affairs of the world will go on forever. Do not delay the practice of meditation.Milarepa

the steps

Meditation is that one practice that’ll help you center; help you connect; help you find your self and put you on the path to true happiness.

Here’s a quick easy to remember practice: Settle down first, become physically comfortable, but not so comfortable that falling asleep would be easy! Now take 3 deep breaths and devote the following to God, the Universe or your inner holy self:

F is for Forgiveness: Forgive all the people in your life. Especially those who are always on your mind and with who your relationship isn’t the best. Forgive all past circumstances that also occupy mindal real-estate. Even forgive God or the Universe. Do forgive your own self. Remind yourself to not be harsh and instead be gentle with self instead.

L is for Love: Now that you’ve opened spiritual and physical channels in your being through forgiveness, seek the love that’s inside your heart. Seek God’s love. Ask that your being be filled with this ever present love. Receive this love and become a channel for this love at the same time. Imagine yourself as a bucket, love flows into you from the top of your head, fills you up, quenches your thirst and then flows out of your heart into everyone around you, your loved ones, your neighbors and the whole world! Revel in this love, it’s palpable!

a is for &

G is for Gratitude: Now that you can feel this love. Be grateful for everything. Your body, mind, whole being, family, circumstances, health, job, you name it. Be thankful for it all!

ps: Thanks to my friend Mick Das for coining the acronym FLaG!

practice

5 minutes in the morning, 5 in the evening and possibly 5 during the day. That’s all it takes, make it a life habit and you’ll never look back. Don’t make it any longer initially unless you feel up to it, increase the time spent as you wish, but don’t make it a compulsion that’ll keep you from undertaking this practice.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM still, I devote time to connect.

What is Zen?

Zen opens a man’s eyes to the greatest mystery as it is daily and hourly performed; it enlarges the heart to embrace eternity of time and infinity of space in its every palpitation; it makes us live in the world as if walking in the garden of EdenD. T. Suzuki

zen

Zen is.

If you spend time analyzing Zen then in Zen you’re not!

everywhere, now

Zen is in the eternal now. It’s connecting to what is, around you, inside you. The Zen mind allows you to:

  • enjoy peace amidst turmoil
  • feel wonder during a routine day
  • live a truly satisfying life

Serving

The biggest problem in the world could have been solved when it was small.Lao Tzu

look within

  • Where are you not shining a spotlight?
  • What part of you, do you continue to ignore?
  • How can you get that log out of your eye?

Turn you gaze within. Become aware of your motives and thought process.

now look around

  • How can you help the person you’re engaging with?
  • What problem, around you, needs addressing most?
  • How can you be of most value to others?

Erase Fear

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.Dorothy Thompson

nothing to fear but fear itself

We must vanquish fear. Especially the kind that freezes us into inaction and causes us to shrivel up. We were meant to expand our horizons and metamorphose into beautiful butterflies. We can’t do that if we’re fearful of growth and change.

apply PSTec

There’s mental work that’s necessary to erase fear and then there are tools available that can help in addition.

The fear pattern creates a neurological path in our brain which becomes very hard to erase. Often no matter what people try the automatic pattern takes over and defeats them.

One way to erase such a pattern is EFT (bottom of the page).

Another amazing way is PSTec, I discovered it lately and have used it successfully for myself and some coaching clients! Check it out here: www.pstec.org.

Here are instructions for using PSTec:

  1. Download these instructions (PSTecinstructions.mp3) and this audio (PSTecFile01.mp3). They’re both from this page: http://pstec.org/instructions.php.
  2. Listen carefully to the instructions first.
  3. Then figure out what emotional issue (fear, sorrow, depression, limiting belief etc.) you want to try PSTec on first. Decide the intensity level on a scale from 0 – 10.
  4. Listen to the 2nd audio now.
  5. For tapping on the right side, use your right thumb and right middle-finger, tap them against each other.
  6. For the left side, tap with your left thumb and left middle-finger.
  7. When asked to tap both sides, tap both the right and left side, at the same time, and rapidly.
  8. That’s it. At the end figure out the intensity level of that same issue again on a scale from 0 – 10.
  9. Repeat steps 3 thru 8 for the same issue until the intensity level goes down to a 0.

Daily Affirmation: I AM love. Fear loses its hold as I love.
