Who Is This Person?

We worry about what children will be tomorrow. Yet, we forget he is something today.Stacia Tauscher

child?

Kahlil Gibran in ‘The Prophet’:

They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you…

How do we view and interact with ‘children’ daily? Do we act as though we know stuff? Do we behave like the child is not his own soul? How does this attitude translate into the rest of our adult interaction?

today

Today the child is also a child of the Divine. Today we still need to learn and grow a lot more. Today everyone else we meet is also God’s child. Today is more important than any other day. Life happens today. Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow shall never be, because it’s all ‘today’. Let’s find rest in the eternal peace that is ‘Now’. All is well.

Why Is It So Hard?

Everybody wants to get enlightened but nobody wants to change.Andrew Cohen

seeking…

We’re seekers. We seek after peace, contentment, enlightenment, something deeper, ‘the way’, escape, we can call it what we will… We’re all seeking something that’s beyond where and what we are… Perhaps that’s by design?

To get beyond where we are, change is required. Change of mind, of attitude and of perception.

change is hard

There’s something called the ‘ego’, that comes in the way of our efforts to change. We think we don’t need to change. We think others need to change. We think we’re already making enough of the changes necessary. The ego convinces us that it’s better to be safe and certain than to take risky action. We comply and therefore we change not because we venture not. All this while, because we don’t change, we suffer, people around us suffer and the world loses on the potentiality of another eternal soul!

What It Takes To Be Cool…

Try to be like the turtle; at ease in your own shell.Bill Copeland

like a turtle

‘Slow and easy wins the race’, not only that but such a turtle doesn’t quite care what others think of him. He’s going to take it easy, be determined, plow along at his own pace and not care a bit about what others think about his life or his body. He’s cool.

how?

For us to be like turtles we have to first be convinced about our own value. Where does such high self-esteem come from? It might have come from our parents, it might come from our friends, from our work and certainly from our accomplishments. For those who believe in God it can be simpler. As a child of God, a universally unique and creative off-spring of the ‘One’, we can find solace in the fact that we’re loved and cared for more than we can ever imagine. Once we accept this fact in faith, we can use prayer, reminders and affirmations to drill it into our psyche! Hello cool Turtle!

The Power Of Thought…

… the power of belief, the power of thought, will move reality in the direction of what we believe and conceive of it. If you really believe you can do something, you can.Daisaku Ikeda

thought

As software is to computers, thoughts are to life. That much isn’t rocket science but it’s an important and pervasive principle. It’s a principle that we neglect and often overlook. I love what Mike Dooley and others have said about thoughts: THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS, lets choose them wisely! Let’s be the architects of our lives!

belief

Let’s become more aware of our central guidance system, which is our belief system. How do we approach life and situations?

Do we expect to…

  • Triumph over problems?
  • Always have enough?
  • Be healthy?
  • Have great relationships?
  • Live forever?

Will We?

But what do we know of the heart nearest to our own? What do we know of our own heart?Amelia Barr

self

If we know self, we’ll know why we do what we do…we’ll know what pesters us and why, and we’ll know where we’re headed.

stillness

The perfect way to self-knowledge is via stillness. Such a practice quietens our mind, stills the electro-chemical currents in our being, and puts  us in touch with the very essence of it all.

5 minutes once or twice a day is all that it takes! Will we?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM still.

Emotional baggage from our childhood and our past in general can be a major drag on our present. Many of us have suffered traumas that we haven’t fully processed yet. These can be a heavy albatross around our change efforts. Luckily, other than psycho-therapy there are some self-programming and hypnosis tools that can do wonders:

  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques): This is an amazing self-help tool that combines meridian tapping and affirmations to root out emotional issues that drag us down and even those that are the cause of our current day physical ailments. The tapping erases neural pathways that obstruct present day normal functioning.
  • PSTec: Another amazing tool that uses pattern interruption and self-hypnosis to remove unhealthy neural pathways. By using this technique one can remove phobias, fears, depression, compulsions, resentments and even program positive emotions instead.

These tools are highly recommended and they help us to face the issue and to neutralize root emotional causes…

How And Why Visualization Works!

Man can only receive what he sees himself receiving.Florence Scovel Shinn

creators

God thought this world into existence. He endowed us with a similar ability that impacts our domain. Our thoughts may be keeping us away from what we truly need. The purest form of thought is visualization. Here’s an excerpt from an actual study done on visualization, reference:

Dr. Blaslotto’s study was conducted by asking a group of students who had been randomly selected to take a series of [basketball] free-throws. The percentage of made free throws were tallied. The students were then divided into three groups and asked to perform three separate tasks over a 30 day period.

  • The first group was told not to touch a basketball for 30 days, no practicing or playing basketball whatsoever.
  • The second group was told to practice shooting free throws for a half hour a day for 30 days
  • The third group was to come to the gym every day for 30 days and spend a half hour with their eyes closed, simply visualizing hitting every free-throw.

After the 30 days all three groups were asked to come back and take the same number of free-throws they had in the beginning of the study.

  • The first group of students who did not practice at all showed no improvement
  • The second group had practiced every day and showed a 24% improvement
  • The third group however, the group which had simply visualized successful free-throws, showed a 23% improvement

visualization = reality

Such is the power of visualization, it can help change us while helping create the future we desire! In the above study the students were able to create new neural pathways just by visualizing the basketball free-throw, that’s how powerful it is!

In our change journey visualization is a very important tool, I recommend Shakti’s books on this topic.
