What’s The Path To Self Realization?

Ask what is separating you from yourself. Answer that question, then see whether you have any other questions…  – Vernon Howard

searching for self?

We often hear that a certain person has gone ‘searching for self’… What does that mean? It can mean many different things and at various levels, here are some possibilities:

  • Searching for our vocation
  • Looking into the meaning of life
  • Questioning our place in the universe
  • Attempting to find our life purpose…

questions!

Questions are the key to discovery! “What is separating you from yourself”? What an amazing question! Helps us inquire into what is ‘self’, what’s most important to us and what’s keeping us from connecting with that ‘self’. Happy sleuthing!

How To Listen To God

Jesus taught his followers that, when they had made their prayers to the Father, they should remain for a time in silent receptivity to afford the indwelling spirit the better opportunity to speak to the listening soul. The Urantia Papers

an imperative

No matter how life is going for us there’s an essential need to connect with ‘All That Is’. God provides the strength we need to live through tough times as well the perspective we need when things are going really well. Let’s not forget what’s most important. Let’s attempt to connect daily…

prayer –> stillness = connection

God speaks to us, he does so constantly. Prayer allows us to make that connection. Immediately after our mental effort to speak to the Father Of All in prayer, we should relax and just sit in still receptivity. This is the most powerful way to connect with divinity and ultimate reality. God sustains us all…

Why Desire A Quiet Mind?

a still mind

Why is a still mind desirable? Only from the vantage point of a quiet and still mind can we begin to understand. We can understand what’s going on and where we might venture next…

stillness

Imagine standing in front of a clear, still and reflective pond. The pond reflects a perfect blue sky, the evergreen trees and snow-capped mountains around it. It also allows one to peer into its depths. Such a pond can our mind be. It takes just 10 minutes, twice a day. Will we do it?

What If…

If we simply decided to believe and act as if first, we’re all one, and second, life is eternal, it would render virtually everything we’ve done all our lives pointless.Neale Donald Walsch

all one…

What if we’re all truly one, joined by a spiritual thread that proceeds from and ends in God? How will we live our lives today?

eternity…

How To Be Safe!

Life carries you where it will because you are a part of itself; then there is no problem of security, of what people say or don’t say, and that is the beauty of life.Krishnamurti

attention

We often move through the day hypnotized. We swim in a sea of thoughts, constantly thinking and rarely pausing to clear our minds. When we pay full attention to something, at that moment, we cease to think, we can see very clearly. We are then fully observing and not creating thoughts about the experience. Let’s use the same principle to understand our motivations and fears in life. Life becomes an adventure when we seek to understand self.

life

What would happen if we don’t worry about the future and regret not our past? Life can then happen. When fear is banished and we live more firmly in the present we can flow with the mighty river called Life. We are then connected with Life because we realize that we’re a part of it. And that’s the journey…

How To Move To Now!

Move away from the mental how to the spiritual now.Guy Finley

mental how

We live constantly in our minds. We manufacture about 70,000 thoughts a day! When we’re thinking, we are not in the present moment.

spiritual now

By becoming aware of our thoughts, our breath, our body, our emotions and of what’s going on we can move into the spiritual now. It really is that simple. Takes practice of course. We must build the new muscle. We must breathe with full consciousness. We must understand the movement of thoughts. We ought to know how our emotions get triggered. And we must value being in the present!

How Can Silence Help?

Language can only deal meaningfully with a special, restricted segment of reality. The rest, and it is presumably the much larger part, is silence.George Steiner

when words fail

Often we find ourselves in situations where words fail. This might be when the other person is not listening or when we can’t add much value with words. Remember situations when another person has suffered a tragedy and we don’t quite know what to say? Or when we say things we don’t quite mean?

silence…

When all else fails, silence speaks volumes. A silent mind is energized and motivated. Silence is often the best policy when others are not listening. It also works wonders when we don’t know how to console another. And certainly it does the trick when we’re just filling space with meaningless chatter.
