Why Tomorrow Never Comes!

Tomorrow deceives. It never arrives…  – Namaste Now!

when…

When I’m an adult I’ll be so happy. When I can afford my sports car I won’t need anything else. When I have a life partner I’d want no more. When I have my dream job I would have arrived. When I’ve paid off my debts I’ll be done. When I have $5M I’d be stress free. Really? Seriously? Who are we kidding?

now

Tomorrow deceives in another way. When it does arrive it’s still ‘now’. There’s no other experience of time, ever. It’s always now. Which means we have no choice but to make the most of NOW. Let’s be more awake to it…

How To Conquer Fear!

To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.  – Bertrand Russell

fear

Fear real or imagined, cripples us. We can’t think clearly when under the influence of fear. If we can’t think clearly then how can wisdom flourish in our lives? How can we conquer fear?

conquer fear

Here are steps that work:

  1. First we must become aware of when we feel fear. We’re fearful of a lot of stuff. Let’s figure out, through mindfulness, what we fear and when, through-out the day.
  2. Next let’s understand the futility of it! Let’s fully grasp and internalize what a waste of energy it is. Most of what we fear never materializes and what does materialize can’t be attended to if we’re disabled by fear.
  3. Once we become aware of any fear arising in our heart or stomach (yes that’s where it generally shows its ugly face!) let’s dissociate from that feeling. In other words recognize that our witnessing of that emotion is separate from it. This is a huge step. We are not our thoughts, we have our thoughts.
  4. Once we learn to dissociate from the fear we can transcend it by choosing our reactions and thoughts regarding any situation. Let’s not be victims for this greatest fraud of all time, let’s become masters of self!

Here’s Where To Find Peace…

The person should look for peace within and not depend on it in any other place. There are no waves in the depths of the ocean, it is still and unbroken.Buddha

inside

We do need to set goals and achieve them. We do have to experience worldly desires and expand horizons. But never will such accomplishments provide a long term and deep satisfaction. We generate our own happiness when we achieve goals, it has to do with how we make meaning in our lives and process events. Similarly we must depend only on self to find ultimate peace and fulfillment…

stillness

It really is possible to discover and experience this expansive and calming center deep inside. It’s blissful and addictive. Once found it beckons and entices. It’s our real home. Inspiration gurgles out of this eternal wellspring. Let’s not miss out on this personal treasure.

Why We Must Be Still…

We yearn for a moment’s peace and quiet, only to turn on the radio, make a phone call, or run an errand as soon as an opportunity for solitude presents itself.Ronnie Polaneczky

constant movement

We fill our life with motion. Incessantly. Why?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We’re running away from self. We do need action in life, just not constant action. At some level we’re afraid of facing our apparently lonely self. We feel more alive when we’re moving. Life is movement. When we’re still and without interaction we fear our mortality

breathe instead

Let’s take pause and focus on our breathing. Slowly we’ll find ourselves calming down. The mind will want to race, let it, don’t attach attention to it or to its production, which are thoughts.

Once we start getting used to being still, at rest, a peace will start to descend, actually emerge from within. Then we will know that we’ve never been alone.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM still and know I AM not alone…

How To End The Masquerade!

A person begins earnest work on himself when first sensing he is not who he imagines he is. The end of the masquerade is the start of peace.Vernon Howard

the big game

We all play a game. We project a self that’s not real. We employ various accouterments to support this masquerade. We might speak for effect or do certain things to get noticed. We’re even adept at fooling our own selves. It becomes a very intricate and long running game. It’s almost impossible to see what we’re doing.

observe self

We become privy to this elaborate masquerade when we decide to observe self. Slowly the stories we tell self become more clear. We recognize why we do things to impress others, we realize what lies we tell self to feel better, we understand how we label others so that we can be justified. It all starts to fall apart. And it must if we are to be at peace.
