Access to the divine…

Human things must be known in order to be loved, but divine things must be loved in order to be known. The Urantia Papers, (102:1.1)

This quote holds a great secret for those who think that God is personal and can be known.

Don’t wait for God to reveal herself.

Through faith, know that God exists, is in very close proximity (in your heart), and through that same faith start building a relationship with this very God.

Therein lies the key to knowing and connecting with God. Try it; you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Do you use a hammer?

If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.Abraham Harold Maslow

How often do we use a hammer; to solve just about every problem?

We do this by:

  • Being set in our own ways
  • By only looking at people and issues with past-colored glasses
  • By thinking we already know the answer
  • By thinking of a response when another is still talking
  • By not sitting and just being, trying to jump in to fix a situation or problem
  • Through our habitual thinking patterns

When will we snap out of this hypnotic way of being?

When we do then the sunlight appears more alive, the air more fragrant, feel what the other person is truly feeling and connect with that which is.

Your life, a canvas…

The world is but a canvas to the imagination.Henry David Thoreau

So is our life. So is everyone else’s life. As is the collective created by the population of a country and the entire world.

Think about the responsibility you own; responsibility for your own life, responsibility for and in partnership with family and a huge responsibility to the rest of the planet. As we think, as we imagine, as we design and execute, so we reap. Some of our small and inconsequential thoughts might result in the most amazing consequences. And some of our grandest ambitions might be for naught.

There is nothing to fear though; all is well as we play and enjoy this life that we’ve been gifted. The whole world is a playground, a canvas indeed! Let’s go out, play and splash some color around!

Your high duty!

There is no duty we so much underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world.Robert Louis Stevenson

I’d say that by being happy we sow ‘enormous’ benefits upon the world! Being happy; knowing how to be happy and knowing how to keep others happy is certainly one our highest duties.

But it must begin with you! When you’re happy you give others permission to be happy as well. You transmit higher vibrations to everyone around you. The physical space, the people and others touched by these people, all feel the reverberations of the happiness that you exude and transmit.

You can be truly happy only if you’re comfortable in your own skin, live a fulfilling life with big goals and with integrity. Happiness is also a product of living in the moment, trusting that all works out for the best in good time. Happiness is the result of good thinking and of appreciating beauty.

How can you be happy, now? What are you grateful for?

Who is wise?

He who knows others is learned; he who knows himself is wise.Lao-tzu

Knowledge is key, it’s often said. Seems to me that even before we can understand and know others; be effective in relationships with them, we must know our own selves a great deal.

What does it mean to know thyself?

It can mean several things and at several levels:

  1. Know our hidden motives and agendas. Are we conscious of why we do what we do?
  2. Know what keeps us going; Know our deepest values; what’s most important to us. What makes us happy/sad?
  3. Know how others perceive us and how we impact their lives.
  4. Know our place in this universe.

It’s not a small undertaking; which is why we have an entire life to explore the universe that’s inside us and is us! Bon Voyage!

Highest attainments…

Reason, wisdom, and faith are man’s highest human attainments.

The Urantia Papers, (103:9.6)

These attainments have nothing to do with career, business or fame, at least directly; instead they involve those aspects of life that we will carry with us even beyond this life!

These 3 areas cover the major aspects of life:

  • Reason: Is about developing your mind and intellect. Reason guides us regarding the things of this world. A well developed intellect is essential for any kind of worldly achievement. Reason is about IQ.
  • Wisdom: Wisdom is all about finding truth, dealing with others and relationships. And thus is a crucial quality to have, it’s about Emotional Quotient or EQ!
  • Faith: Opens the door to everything else that’s essential to our lives. It’s the path to a life of religion; knowing God or Universal Mind, it leads to the very source of everything. Faith is eventually about LQ, Love Quotient, because the real fruit of ‘true religion’ is the blossoming of a pure love, from within.

Living with honor

The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be.Socrates

We pretend so many things. We portray, often, a different person than we truly are, to others.

Pay attention to what it is that we try to portray to others. Are those qualities that lead to more Truth, greater Beauty and deeper Goodness?

If so then it’s incumbent upon us to truly be those qualities. Here’s an example: We’re often super nice to folks outside our home. Certainly that’s a great quality to have. Now how about we make it real so that we’re truly nice, most of the time, even with family? That would mean we won’t have to pretend any more. It would mean we’re being honest to our core and living with honor!
