Each breath that we breathe uses time. Time is as precious as our breath. It allows us to be all that we can be. It enables self-expression in a billion different ways. It’s the palette that God uses to paint this ever unfolding and infinitely multifarious painting. Time can be deeply experienced in the eternal now.

For everything that we do or desire there are only two motivations. One is fear, rather common. And the other is love, more desirable. We want a mate because we fear being alone. Or we want a life partner because we want to share our life with someone amazing. We look for a job because we’re fearful of our economic status or we want one so that we can pursue our passion. In essence it’s either a negative or a positive outlook.

It pays to notice what moves us. What’s the over-whelming motivation that drives us? If it’s not positive or based on ‘love’ then we can fine tune it. We can do it because it’s our mind, it’s not an entity in itself. We can choose loving motivations and thoughts. We can banish all semblance of fear by doing that…

When we feel important we’re bound to feel left out. Instead let’s stop defending ourselves, let’s stop being aggressive in getting back at others. Let’s breathe deeply and take it easy. There are numerous definitions of meditation. One popular idea is that thoughts must cease for us to enter a meditative state. Certainly that could be classified as meditation; however meditation is also:

* Discovering and resting in the peace that resides within us

* Making direct contact with God

This peace that is nestled just under our stream of thoughts can be experienced. The trick is to be in a state of non-judgmental and relaxed awareness. That means we just sit and be. We become relaxed in body and mind. We stay alert, i.e. not fall asleep and maintain awareness of all that goes on inside us, without manufacturing new thoughts about any of it. Once we experience this peace it’s a great opportunity to:

* Pray and make direct contact with God

* Seek inspiration, which appears in the form of sudden thoughts and ideas

* Do creative thinking and planning

We all struggle with fear. Some of it is overt and quite palpable, we feel it. Then there’s the kind that just lurks and does even more damage. When we feel uneasy or nervous we ought to name the fear. We must start becoming aware that we’re fearful if we’re to diffuse that feeling of discomfort.

Fear resides inside us. It’s born of our thoughts, conscious and sub-conscious. We manufacture thoughts constantly and many of them construct the body of fear inside us. Once we become aware of this activity, the very act of awareness can begin to dissolve the fear especially if we also stop manufacturing new ones!
