Melt the Snow!

One kind word can warm three snowy peaks.Japanese proverb

a little goes a long way

A sincere smile, an acknowledgement via the eyes, a warm hand-shake, a heart-felt pat on the back and meaningful hug, can all go a long way to mend a relationship and to make a connection. Let’s be aware of the messages we send to others, in the way we use our body!

envision the future

Whenever disturbed, think of the future you’d rather have. Keeping that warm/fuzzy in mind, give your own self a smile, an acknowledgment or a hug. Know that you’re ok and are loved by a universal intelligence, just as you are.

Smile :-)

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles.  It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.  – Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

our job

Is to be happy first, then enable happiness in others. Yes that’s our job on this planet. Often our happiness only results when making others happy. Ponder that.

our body language

Goes a long way in speaking to who we are and what we bring. A smile is a habiliment that can be most effective in informing others that we’re friendly. Being friendly makes us happy, as it does others.

The Magnet

There is a magnet in your heart that will attract true friends. That magnet is unselfishness, thinking of others first…Yogananda

form a habit

Most of us think of us first. What if we formed a habit of thinking about others first? It needs to be a new habit; we’ll need new neural pathways that allow us to think in this fashion!

and expect not

Leave the rest to providence. Do for others because you want to, don’t expect the same from them. You’ll suffer otherwise.

It’s Right Here!

The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are.John Burroughs

running away?

Why is the grass always greener on the other side? Why do we always look for fun and excitement out there? What are we running away from? Pause to consider.

instead

What might be needed is a new pair of eyes, daily. We must figure out a way to renew our pledge to be learners, to be child-like, to feel wonder and excitement about what we have, about opportunities that abound us and for what is still possible.

The Art of Creating

Silence is a receptive space.Barbara De Angelis

be still

Creation comes from silence. There’s a pause, a space between each of our thoughts. Pay attention to that space. That’s where creativity springs from. Which is why it’s important for us to be in control of our thoughts and not let them be the usual runaway kind. Be still and allow for creativity to occur!

stillness

Here’s a stillness practice. Meditation Tip #6:

  • Breathe 3 deep breaths. Each inhalation should be from the nose. Hold each breath for a few comfortable seconds Breathe out slowly through your mouth. The exhalation should take about twice as long as the inhalation.
  • Now just sit. Relax into your seat. Focus on each muscle (like on your shoulders, legs etc.) and allow them to relax.
  • Just be. And watch your thoughts. Notice how a thought might come up, like ‘Hey when I get up I must call my mom’, accept the thought, do not hop in and complete the thought, just become aware of it and let it go.
  • As you do more of the just ‘being’. You’ll become peaceful and alert. When you find yourself in a state of relaxed alertness, you’re then in the present ‘Now’ moment. Enjoy!

The Present…

You often overlook the choicest things in life because they’re so easy to obtain – the sunrise and the sunset, the starry host on a clear night, the taste of fresh clean air, the sight and smell of flowers and trees, and the fresh rain on your face.Emmet Fox

want more

It’s easy to overlook the lovely things in and around us, because we always want more of something else. We want more because nothing truly satisfies us. We search for an elusive something, that which will eventually quench our thirst for wanting more and more. That something can be found and experienced.

receive what’s here

Let’s notice all that abounds us, the lovely family, the great health and enough material comforts to last a lifetime. Being gratified with what we have is one key to greater fulfillment now and later.
