God has given you one face, and you make yourself another. – William Shakespeare
we try and be someone else
I was reading (actually listening) to Transformational Speaking by Gail Larsen this morning and one of the key principles she espoused was around ‘being yourself’. She mentions this concept of the ‘double ouch’ as it relates to public speaking. It essentially means that most of us have the potential to fail twice, once as we try to be someone else and a 2nd time when we fail as our own selves!
fail as ourselves
Instead try the single ouch where you allow only your own self to fail or prosper! Give you to yourself completely, that would be a lifetime’s journey all by itself!
Daily Affirmation: Today I AM me. I succeed as myself.

The moment one gives a close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world unto itself. – Henry Miller
Pure attention is what it takes to truly live in the moment. Without attention we live a hypnotized life. One in which we’re constantly lost in our thoughts. What do we miss when we live completely inside our head?
Life is beautiful. And yes it’s in the eye of the beholder. Actually it’s in the consciousness of the beholder. If the beholder doesn’t behold, does the beauty still exist?
Daily Affirmation: Today I AM empty in mind. I enjoy the wonders around me!

The greatest accomplishment began as a decision once made. – Michael Rawls
visualize the big goal
But don’t be overwhelmed by it. Know that you’ve accomplished an assortment of goals in the past; you’ll do better this time!
So go ahead and make that decision. The one to start towards your goal, today! Notify the Universe that you intend to carry through, that you mean it, that nothing will hold you back and that you expect things to work out. The Universe listens kindly and smiles…
Daily Affirmation: Today I AM the decision engine! What I decide, happens!

Who is there who can make muddy waters clear? But if allowed to remain still, it will gradually clear itself. – Lao-tsu
let it be
The mind, when allowed to run amuck, can play quite a number on us. Controlling it is not super easy. Stillness helps, especially over time. During the day, even during your meditation, the technique that works best is: Just let it be. If some idea comes knocking at your order, refuse entry. If the idea forces itself in, let it do what it wants but don’t engage. Just let it be. Eventually it’ll get the message and let you be. Peace results.
affects everything else
Once you have peace and can perceive reality, everything else is positively affected. You can see things and face reality squarely. If you erred in your interaction with another person, you’ll know it. You can make better decisions, better relationships and maintain the joy which results from the peace.

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. – Zig Ziglar
Life is hard work. We’re essentially a tabula rasa when we’re born. Everything that we do, makes us, every habit, every project, achievement, goal etc. We literally build our inner ‘soul’ through our persistence and hard work.
Because nothing much is free in life. We must remind ourselves daily to:
- Pray: Connect with our spiritual source. Motivate ourselves.
- Thank: Be thankful for all we have and are.
- Love: Love all, including self.
- Set Goals: Live life on purpose.
- Exercise: Our mind, body and soul.
Daily Affirmation: Today I sharpen my saw. I focus on what’s important.

Teacher, let’s you and I make a new religion, one good enough for India and big enough for Rome … – Ganid to Jesus (The Urantia Papers)
According to the Urantia Papers Jesus spent many months with a couple of visitors from India during his ministry around the middle-east, much before his crucifixion. Ganid the son of an Indian trader, got quite close to Jesus. It’s an account worth reading here!
the new religion
Here’s my take on the tenets of the ‘new religion’ that’s 2000 years old. It’s still ‘new’ because no large group of people has ever practiced it in its pure form. If we did, the world would change. It’s a religion that requires no earthly authority. It’s all between you and God.
- God is within you: Tap into that presence via meditation and prayer. Reflect on what this truly means. The God of this whole creation, resides within and shares your life with you! You are very valuable.
- God is within everyone else: Treat everyone accordingly. God is the common thread between all of us. That makes us all brothers and sisters. How can this truth guide us daily?
- Love is the answer: Relationships are of utmost importance. Anytime you don’t know what to do, ask ‘What will love do in this situation’? Anytime you don’t know how to be, be love. Focus on the right goals in life.
Daily Affirmation: Today I move in God’s presence, I see and acknowledge God in everyone.

By paying full attention to all the life happening right now, you affect your entire future. This enables you to live a fully conscious life, not an accidental one. The current moment is most precious. How are you living it?
