How Not To Be Hurt!

Understanding abolishes hurt feelings forever.Vernon Howard

understand

Our ego gets hurt. Our ego isn’t us. It’s just an artificial construct that serves a practical purpose. We come from God, that’s our nature. When someone hurts or attempts to hurt others, the other person doesn’t have to accept that ‘act of war’. It’s up to us to use our wisdom for our own benefit. We choose to be hurt or to be peaceful. How will we use our thoughts today?

affirmations

Today I see things as they are. I don’t allow myself to get hurt. I see where the other person is coming from. I know it all works out. I trust God with my life. I AM very thankful.

How Good Is Our Life?

As in a story, so is life. Not how long it is, but how good it is. That is what matters. William Butler Yeats

life

In our daily lives we often talk about our ‘standard of living’ or ‘quality of life’. These measures don’t actually look at the soul quality of our lives. Are we really happy? What’s causing dissatisfaction on a daily basis? Where and how are we growing? What’s the quality of our relationships?

affirmations

Today I think about my life. I focus on activities that bring me joy. I pay special attention to people who matter to me. I regard relationship activities more than mundane ones. I understand where I must grow. I forgive my past and my current foibles. I AM God’s child and can always start afresh. I forgive others. I feel good about my life. Let’s go!!

Who Should We Blame?

Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living; the world owes you nothing; it was here first.  – Mark Twain

the blame game

How many times can we catch ourselves blaming another or getting angry at someone because of what we think they did to us? If we believe that our thoughts create our reality then it’s obvious that what we’re experiencing now is likely the result of our previous thought streams. Or if we believe in God then we might also believe that God or her angels arrange certain difficulties for us, just so that you can grow and experience life in a certain way. No matter what we believe taking the onus on self can be very liberating, we’re suddenly in charge of our life! We’re responsible to self and for self. We may give others the credit but not the blame. What will we create?

affirmations

I AM a creator of my experiences and my world. I choose that which serves God’s purpose for my life. I AM fearless and feel guided daily. I listen carefully and follow the clues that abound. I AM blessed because I AM a child of God. I have the Midas touch. I succeed even when I apparently fail. I know the value of love, the currency of this Universe and I create love with my every thought and action…

Why To Kick The Comfort Zone?

One doesn’t discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.Andre Gide

growth

It’s that comfort zone again, that keeps drawing us down and forces us to cruise along blissfully neglecting our own growth. Growth is very important. Why? Because without the sense of achievement that comes from meaningful growth we feel empty, unfulfilled and depressed about life.

We must have meaningful goals to achieve, and constantly so. That doesn’t mean we have to be driven like rats. We can stay mindful, calm and know that we pursue worthwhile goals without neglecting what’s important in the Now. And growth ought to be balanced across the physical, mental (emotional) and spiritual dimensions.

affirmations

I AM a free child of God. I AM fearless. I can take on new goals and projects without apprehension. I understand that at one level all life is play and that I AM a child in a playground. I explore and I conquer. And I do it with all kinds of invisible help from the Universe. I AM blessed, just like everyone else!

Why We Are Like Seeds…

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.  – Oliver Wendell Holmes

seeds

We are like seeds. A seed comes with all that it needs to grow into a mighty oak. It dances with Nature to extract water/sunshine and provides life-giving fruit and shade. Let’s discover the seed that we are, deep inside. Once we make contact we’ll have the means to be rejuvenated and motivated like never before! We will grow like a strong oak and know self. We will then give to those around us, in ways no one else can.

affirmations

I AM a child of God. I AM a son of the Universe. Seeds of greatness, loveliness, creativity and goodness lie inside me. Today I water these seeds with the right thoughts and actions. I AM thrilled with my life. All is well!

How We Think Matters…

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.William Shakespeare

our thoughts

A big root of all unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life is our judgmental way of looking at ourselves, others and the world around us. Which is why it pays to watch our thoughts as much as possible. Most times we lose ourselves in our thoughts. We become our thoughts. Become aware of the fact that we are experiencing our thoughts, we are not our thoughts. The latter is what we experience mostly.

As soon as we separate our conscious, witnessing mind from the constant chatter, we are able to tune into a timeless wisdom and peace. This experience expands in proportion to the time we spend in such moments, called Now.

affirmations

Today I AM the master of my thoughts. I create them, I choose them, I don’t let them run wild. I AM a designer of my thoughts and therefore my experiences. I know I AM a child of God and am responsible for all creation within my realm. I AM thankful for it all.

Why We Are Rats…

The problem with winning the rat race is you’re still a rat. – L.M. Montgomery

a new day!

We are all like rats aren’t we? We go milling about, with our nose to the ground, just like rats, looking for that elusive thing or person that will truly satisfy our deepest desires.

We satisfy some desires, are never deeply satiated, and move on to the next thing! We repeat this process while enjoying some bliss, enduring pain and experiencing loads of worry and anxiety.

To what end?

What’s our goal?

Till when?

What’s next?

What would happen if the rats stopped, looked around, even looked above? What’s the way out? Lot’s of questions to ponder and ruminate on!

affirmations

Today I AM consciously exiting the rat race! I’ll seek deeper meaning in life and think about grander goals. I’ll reflect more often and be aware of my thoughts and intentions. By doing so I’ll allow the Spirit in me to have more leeway over me. As I deepen this partnership life will become even more amazing and the opportunities to love and serve will accelerate!
