How Can Life Be An Exciting Adventure?

We’re so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget that the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it’s all about. Joseph Campbell

the outer

We’re mostly focused on topics of ‘outer value’. We dwell on questions like: ‘How do others view me?’, ‘How can I get there?’, ‘How can I get ahead?’, ‘What’s in it for me?’ etc.

the inner

Being alive to ‘inner values’ is to be intensely present in the current moment while being aware of true goals. When we know our Life Purpose (true goals) and can flow through the day living in the moment then we’re on the right path! Along the path we’ll meet folks who are like-minded and find opportunities that’ll help us grow. Life then is an adventure, jump on!!

The Goal Of Ages…

8.7 Think of me therefore at all times; remember thou me and fight. And with mind and reason on me, thou shalt in truth come to me.

8.14 Those who in the devotion of Yoga rest all their soul ever on me, very soon come unto me..The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 8)

think of me

We move and have our being in God, everything is God. Another way of stating this is that God is Truth, God is the essence, God is the goal… In this verse ‘God’ exhorts the human to set his mind on the eternal goal, fight the inner fight and achieve the goal of the ages…

the spiritual dimension

Beyond what we see, underneath it all, there’s a whole lot more. When we can still our mind, achieve a certain equanimity, allow our brain to function at lower frequencies than beta, then we can and do have access to what’s beyond. Here we’re connected to a global, non-local consciousness. This is the path to higher guidance from universal intelligence…

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek God by becoming still.

When There’s Nothing Else to Know…

7.1 Hear now, Arjuna, how thou shalt have the full vision of me, if thy heart is set on me and if, striving for Yoga, I am thy refuge supreme.

7.2 And I will speak to thee of that wisdom and vision which, when known, there is nothing else for thee to know. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 7)

for the asking

The goal of the ages is obtainable just for the asking. This book reveals that when the pupil is ready the teacher appears; when we ask we’re given. That’s especially true if we seek the ‘kingdom of God’ within because then everything else that’s spiritually necessary to achieve this ultimate goal is added onto our lives.

the greatest knowledge

The greatest knowledge is that which:

  • Allows us to live happy and fulfilling lives today
  • Helps us understand reality and our place in it
  • Clarifies for us where we’re headed

According to this ‘bible’ of the Hindus, when we seek ‘Yoga’ (union) with ultimate reality (God) then we start a chain of events that ultimately leads us to the very doorstep of All That Is.

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek God.

Why We Can’t Be Broken

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.Ernest Hemingway

broken?

After the devastating Tsunami in Nippon we’re all feeling a sense of loss, fear and uncertainty about the future. It’s so natural to feel that way. Let’s invite that feeling and not push it away. When we do that we come face to face with it and can experience it fully. Doing that is our ticket to feeling better. A primary goal of life is to banish fear and to embrace love in its stead.

prayer

The idea is to raise our own vibrations and not be affected by negative vibes from outside ourselves. A great way to raise our vibrations is to pray, to chant , to sing and to generally reach for and experience joy. As we do that, we heal and become capable of serving and healing others. Rejoice my friends because we’re all ultimately safe, believe this truth and celebrate!!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM safe and joyous!

What Silence Leads To…

6.30 And when he sees me in all and he sees all in me, then I never leave him and he never leaves me.

6.31 He who in this oneness of love, loves me in whatever he sees, wherever this man may live, in truth this man lives in me. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

god realization

Meditation, silence and a life of love-soaked service leads to an ever increasing realization of God. This ‘realization’ consists of seeing God in everything and everything in God according to this holy book of the Hindus.

love…

What emerges from this ‘vision’ of life is that love abounds and is the underpinning of reality itself. Love of God and by extension love for others reveals how we’re all connected at the deepest level. We are all brothers out on an eternal adventure that keeps unfolding…

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM one with all, in love.

How To Walk The Talk …

We all have to start with ourselves. It is time to walk the talk. Take the journey of making very difficult decisions. Start removing things from your life that are not filling your cup and adding things that bring joy in to your life.Lisa Hammond

truth

Being true to self is super tough. It’s so hard to look at self with objectivity. How can we do it when we live in ourselves? But that is what’s required if we’re going to progress in our relationship to self, to others and to the world.

reflection

With reflection comes greater self-knowledge. Journaling on deep-soul questions is an amazing way to reflect, here’s a blog I had written on it. As we reflect through journaling and meditation we grow. That in turn allows us to simplify our lives. A simple life is a joyous one.

Daily Affirmation: Today I reflect and simplify.

How Will You Know What You Want?

Most people are so busy knocking themselves out trying to do everything they think they should, they never get around to do what they want to do.Kathleen Winsor

doing

We all are doing too much, daily. If we won’t stop and listen to our heart, to the divine calling, awaken to our real purpose in life, we will end up being resentful old people! We don’t want that do we?

eureka!

Where and when do you get your best ideas?

I get mine while in the shower, when shaving or meditating! Archimedes got his in the tub. Churchill on the pot! It’s when we’re truly ‘being’ that we receive a lot of inspiration. And that’s the key, to sprinkle ‘being’ moments through-out our day. That’s the way to stay connected to ‘source’. We will then know what to stop doing and what to do next instead of having no real clue. The following is advice I gave to a coaching client, I try and live the same advice:

Every hour, if you can, just stop for a few minutes. Sit. Breathe deeply. Know that the divine is with you, where you are, at that moment. Ask for help and get going again….

Daily Affirmation: Today I stop, breathe, connect, then go.
