Who Is Wise?

He who knows others is learned; he who knows himself is wise.Lao-tzu

self first

Knowledge is key, it’s often said. To be effective in our relationships with others it does make sense that we know self better, first…

how?

What does it mean to know self? It can mean several things and at several levels:

  1. Know our hidden motives and agendas. Are we conscious of why we do what we do?
  2. Know what keeps us going; Know our deepest values; what’s most important to us. What makes us happy/sad?
  3. Know how others perceive us and how we impact their lives.
  4. Know our place in this universe.

It’s not a small undertaking; which is why we have an entire life to explore the universe that’s inside us and is us! Bon Voyage!

How To Live An Eloquent Life!

Be patient. Be wise in your counsel and eloquent in your lives.  – The Urantia Papers

be patient

What does it mean to be patient? To me it means being patient first with self. We shouldn’t have expectations that create a life that’s too hectic, one that allows not for true rest and reflection. It also means be patient with all others; don’t want others to live at the same pace we want to live. It means being patient with all other things in life. Flow with life; don’t feel anxious when things don’t transpire just the way we expect them to. Try to see the purpose in everything.

eloquent life

We should be wise in our counsel to others; give advice only when asked for it; and apply our words to the person and the situation. Eloquence in our lives comes from living the life that we preach or aspire to. Let others imbibe in what we most want them to know through how we live our life. Words are not necessary.

Why Forgive?

Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.  – Suzanne Somers

why?

Forgiveness enables deep healing to occur inside us. It’s a healing that makes the mind sane and the body healthier. It’s a soothing salve that works wonders. At a spiritual level forgiveness allows for a smooth flow of energies in your body that might otherwise be hampered. Once we free that energy up, via forgiveness, we’ll feel better in all respects!

eft

Another way to achieve similar results is to use EFT: a form of affirmations and acupressure tapping. Use EFT to free the energy flow in the body to become healthier emotionally and therefore physically! More info here and here.

What Is Goodness?

You need a generous mind, not only a wide mind. A mind that is full of space, but also a heart that gives without thought, without a motive, and that does not seek any reward in return. It is only in such fertile ground that goodness can grow.  – Krishnamurti

goodness

Doing good for no reason at all. Creating harmony and love just for the sake of it. Allowing people to grow and prosper. Such is the soil in which goodness prospers!

goal

Are we becoming ‘gooder’ every day? Does truth matter to us? Are we appreciative of beauty wherever we spot it? If so then we’re growing a true, beautiful and good soul!

How To Find Love…

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.  – Marcel Proust

around us

Let’s notice them, there’s many of them all around us. Look for that essence that defines them and interact with that alone. That’s the real beauty that surrounds us.

be grateful

Being grateful is the key to all happiness and abundance. We should be thankful for whoever and whatever we possibly can. Give the heartfelt thanks in the form of prayer and actual words. Wish others well. Give of self. Life is nothing but good then. Rejoice!

Who Was The Peace Pilgrim?

The body, mind and emotions are instruments which can be used by either the self-centered nature or the God-centered nature.  – The Peace Pilgrim

a role model

In my early years of enquiry into the spiritual life Mildred Lisette Norman Ryder was a major influence. She’s more popularly known as The Peace Pilgrim. Her story is an amazing one. Her life was the message, a message of finding inner peace and spreading it via contact with others. She walked, literally hiked, all over the United States for 28 years of her life, walking the talk instead of just talking about it! You may download or order a printed copy of her inspiring book here.

her message

Her central message is that we must be genuinely peaceful first and then that peace can be a beacon for others.

This is the way of peace: Overcome evil with good, falsehood with truth, and hatred with love. The Peace Pilgrim

She speaks about 4 Preparations, 4 Purifications and 4 Relinquishments in order to achieve a peace beyond understanding… More here or in her book!
