Why Judging Doesn’t Help!

God himself, sir, does not propose to judge man until the end of his days. Why should you and I?Dr. Johnson

relationships

I just started reading this classic by Dale Carnegie (linked below) and the first principle he shares on how to build great relationships is ‘Don’t Criticize, Condemn or Complain’! We are complex beings, a muddle of ego, emotions and opinions, we do have to tread carefully when attempting to build long term relationships! When we put someone down by telling them exactly why they’re wrong we rarely achieve the goal of nurturing great relationships. Criticism puts the recipient into a defensive mode and their hurt ego cannot easily respond back positively.

judge not

Why should we judge anyway? Putting self into that mode transports us into that negative vibration and makes life for us more like the recipient of our judgment. Have we observed how often we experience that which we noticed or ‘judged’ in another’s experience? Why is that? The more we stay in a positive vibration, the better it simply is!

How To Guarantee Happiness!

Never idealize others. They will never live up to your expectations. Don’t over-analyze your relationships. Stop playing games. A growing relationship can only be nurtured by genuineness.Leo F. Buscaglia

expectation

You know and I know that our expectations of others are rarely realized! Ever wonder why? That’s not brain surgery either. We are us and they are them. They are their own people, they’re unique, they think differently and view the world quite differently. No wonder they deliver actions quite differently from what we expect! So what to do?

become real

Be real with self first. Know that we must work on self. Be forgiving when others don’t deliver as expected, they’re on their own journey. Cut them some slack, actually cut them infinite slack (the way to peace!)…

Be real with them. Genuinely love them, truly listen to them and without fear share self with them. If they don’t respond as expected (!), wait patiently, continue working on self!!

How We Create Heaven Or Hell…

13.28 And when a man sees that the God in himself is the same God in all that is, he hurts not himself by hurting others: then he goes indeed to the highest Path. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 13)

our thoughts

We dwell in our thoughts. We dwell in our minds. And therefore we dwell in the quality of mind that we create or allow to be created in our minds. Whenever we have thoughts that aren’t wholesome and are negative we experience their vibrations. So by choosing our thoughts we choose the state of mind that we experience. All day.

god’s fabric

God’s fabric makes up everything. God’s presence makes residence in all hearts. God experiences himself through us. God becomes many, from one, through us. We cannot, for long, fight God in the person of the other. We cannot think ill of or harm anyone else without harming self. So whether we create internal hell through our thoughts or we harm self by attacking others, it’s a lose-lose situation. Let’s win-win instead, create love in self and provide loving service. We’re empowered to create a piece of heaven wherever we find self.

Who’s The Ideal Life Partner?

If you are going to fall in love, try to make your relationship one that generates great spiritual creativity, one that is mutually enriching.Daisaku Ikeda

life partner

A partner for life, means just that. We all have access to a physical and/or virtual ‘life’ partner. We’re lovingly looked after by God our parent. Love is the very basis for all reality and why we all exist. In this current separation from spiritual reality, for very good reasons, we suffer from loneliness, but there’s a way out…

spiritual connection

We must make connection with Spirit. This can be done directly via stillness practices and can be enhanced via a wholesome relationship with a spouse or partner. This connection, such a relationship, is our way beyond our current struggles and lack of the big picture. Life can be wholesome, satisfying and thrilling, we just need to turn our perspective inward and ask that Reality get involved! It will…

How To Heal Relationships

If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?Stephen Levine

relationships

There isn’t a person alive who doesn’t have or hasn’t had challenges with relationships! The truth is that relationships are what life is all about. If everything was to disappear right now, from a spiritual standpoint the only thing that would matter would be people, memories and relationships. How can we heal relationships that are suffering?

2 ways

Here are 2 ideas that do work:

  1. Let’s drop our ego and call the person or persons we most need to talk to. Tell them how much we miss them and how much we’re losing out by not having a normal relationship… This has been known to work for some Smile!
  2. The Spiritual Triangle: Here’s an exercise that works powerfully to heal relationships behind the scenes! Here are the steps…
    • Use prayer to connect with divinity. Now imagine 3 points of light in the mind’s eye.
    • Point A: Is a bright light in the region of our heart; Point B: Is a luminosity that depicts God or divinity. Point C: Is a bright light that represents the heart of the other person.
    • Make a ‘light’ connection between Point A (us) and Point B (God). Then connect Point B and Point C (the other person). Finally in a triangle connect all 3 points!
    • Imagine the light triangle between the 3 points as vividly as possible. This light is the love that connects everyone. This love heals all…
    • Now pray that this relationship be healed and imagine Point A, B and C merging into one brilliant light!

How Gratitude Leads to Happiness!

Nine-tenths of wisdom is appreciation. Go find somebody’s hand and squeeze it, while there’s time. Dale Dauten

gratitude

Appreciating others and great situations is really all about gratitude. We notice what’s good around us and then we act on that observation. We act by saying a loving word to another or just by being thankful for what we have. Nine-tenths of happiness is gratitude.

action

How often do our good intentions just stay intentions? How often do we regret not acting on something positive? How bad would we feel if it’s too late to express our love to someone who might not be around tomorrow? So now’s the time! Let’s figure out what’s most important, in fact, who’s most important in our lives and make them feel like the special person they are! Let’s get off our ‘buts’ and just do it!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM thankful for the great people who surround me!

The Truth We Often Overlook

10.10 To those who are ever in harmony, and who worship me with their love, I give the Yoga of vision and with this they come to me.

10.11 In my mercy I dwell in their hearts and I dispel their darkness of ignorance by the light of the lamp of wisdom. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10)

harmony and love

Harmony in mind and body allows us to focus on that which matters. We then realize that love is the way forward. Love of God and love of everyone else in our lives. Love becomes the means as well as the end…

the god within

It’s no small Truth that God resides within us. Just accepting this fact, in faith, opens new doors. When we accept this Truth, we give the Divine permission to be active in our lives. The more the Divine participates in our lives, the better off we are if we only allow it. Let’s remember this salient Truth, of God residing in our hearts, and accept the wisdom that can come our way!
