Why Here, Now?

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And Tomorrow is only a Vision;
But Today well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

here and now

This is it, today and now is all we have! We live our entire life, our existence, our dreams and sorrows; all during today.

We often spend time regretting the past or reliving it. We also spend time worrying about the future. While it’s good to learn from past mistakes and great to plan ahead, lets not miss out on the priceless opportunities that ‘Now’ has to offer. The ever present and eternal Now is where reality intersects with consciousness, which is the real YOU.

Be Here Now, Now Be Here.Ram Dass

affirmations

I AM Now present, here. I inhabit Now and relish time as I experience it. Life itself flows through me and my experiences as I travel through time and space. I AM in a boat. The boat is constant within itself yet it flows down the river of time. The Lord of the Universe cradles me in his palm. The Mother looks after my every need. All is well in this eternal garden of Truth, Beauty and Goodness…

How To Enjoy Now

No longer forward nor behind
I look in hope or fear;
But, grateful, take the good I find,
The best of now and here.

John Greenleaf Whittier

now

To inhabit the present moment is not an easy undertaking. But there’s a way! The trick is to look for what’s ‘good’, what’s great, true and beautiful, around us in the moment. Let’s remind ourselves to do that and we’ll become masters of the now moment!

affirmations

I AM a now person. I love being present. I seek all that’s good and beautiful around me. I feel good when I do that. All of the Universe’s goodness flows to me and through me when I AM fully present!

What Must We Always Remember?

When you feel happy, really happy, it somehow seems that you’ve always been happy and that you’ll always be happy. The same is often true when you feel sad, or lonely, or depressed, or broke, or sick, or scared. Something, perhaps, to remember.  – The Universe

be happy

Our highest duty is to be happy. It’s not a selfish pursuit because the highest happiness can only be achieved when our lives are lived for others. If we can be happy, all else takes care of itself…

affirmations

Today I AM just happy no matter what. My highest universal duty is to be happy. I see the good in everyone and in every event. I know that goodness underlies the very substance of the Universe. I know that God’s spirit is interspersed within me. His blood courses my veins. I’m God’s child and I know it. For that very reason I AM always happy!

How To Live Zen…

There is nothing to do

and nowhere to go.

Accepting this,

we can do everything

and go anywhere.

The Way Under The Way – Mark Nepo

conundrum

Life is a conundrum. Mark encapsulates it beautifully as he concludes his beautiful poem. Once we establish our flow with the Universe everything occurs naturally and without great effort. When we think we’re doing it all then life will be a struggle, we’ll never get it done. With full acceptance, life is complete now, but still goes on in a way only an artist can understand…

affirmations

Life continues to flow through me. And I allow it. I feel alive and only goodness, truth and beauty is the result. Love chooses me as I love everyone. I accept all that is and therefore am designedly empowered to be all that I can be. I AM complete and rejoice in the all-that-isness of the eternal now…

Why Be Idle?

Work is not always required. There is such a thing as sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.  – George Macdonald

being or doing?

What keeps us from just being, rather than always doing? What do we fear, is it boredom? Do we fear our past or being alone?

just being

Just being allows for deep rejuvenation and connection. Such a non-activity replenishes our body, mind and spirit. It’s time when we can experience self across these 3 dimensions. We allow for healing to  take place. Healing that leads to a healthy body, a clear mind and a purposeful spirit. Why would we not jump at this opportunity?

Using A Hammer?

If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.  – Abraham Harold Maslow

hammer?

How often do we use a hammer to solve just about every problem?

We do this by:

  • Being set in our own ways
  • By only looking at people and issues with past-colored glasses
  • By thinking we already know the answer
  • By thinking of a response when another is still talking
  • By not sitting and just being, trying to jump in to fix a situation or problem
  • Through our habitual thinking patterns

hypnotized

When will we snap out of this hypnotic way of being? When we do then the sunlight appears more alive, the air more fragrant; we connect with the other person and Life itself at a deeper level.

Why We’re Never Far…

…the door is wide and open, don’t go back to sleep…  – Rumi (the untold story)

strangers

We’re strangers in our own home. We’re so near the nectar yet we either don’t look for it or don’t know where to alight.

lost in thoughts

Let’s not be worried about the future nor sad about what could have been. Life is happening right now. If we get too lost in our thoughts we’ll pass by the door that’s ‘wide and open’…
