What is Meditation??

Meditation is the life of the soul: Action, the soul of meditation...  – Francis Quarles

meditation?

What is it? How do we do it? Why is it important?

zen

The quote above is actually a great definition of ‘Zen’. Meditation is when we draw closer to our soul, our inner self, the divinity that we carry around with us… We may approach reality through various means like contemplation, mantras, stillness, prayer, art, nature and Life itself. When we move about alert and present we move in consort with reality. Meditation then spills into action. Each moment is a holy one…

How To Convince Others…

He who treads softly goes far. Chinese Proverb

avoid arguments

We all want others to agree with us. Then why do we tend to argue so much? How likely is the other person to agree with us if we try to convince them via an argument? Let’s listen deeply instead. And then if we have a point to make, use this Dale Carnegie technique: Start them off saying ‘Yes’. Ask questions that solicit an affirmative response. That will set the psychological stage for the other person to agree with us. This should be done without manipulation and in a genuine way of course…

life principles

14th Dale Carnegie Principle: Get the other person saying “yes, yes” immediately.

Here’s a story from the book:

Socrates, "the gadfly of Athens," was one of the greatest philosophers the world has ever known. He did something that only a handful of men in all history have been able to do: he sharply changed the whole course of human thought; and now, twenty-four

centuries after his death, he is honored as one of the wisest persuaders who ever influenced this wrangling world.
His method? Did he tell people they were wrong? Oh, no, not Socrates. He was far too adroit for that. His whole technique, now called the "Socratic method," was based upon getting a "yes, yes" response. He asked questions with which his opponent would have to agree. He kept on winning one admission after another until he had an armful of yeses. He kept on asking questions until finally, almost without realizing it, his opponents found themselves embracing a conclusion they would have bitterly denied a few minutes previously.

Who’s The Truest Friend Of All?

A friend-in-truth is one who does not expect you to behave better than your present consciousness allows.Vernon Howard

understanding

Understanding where others come from, what drives them, what they believe and what’s most important to them is the greatest skill we can acquire! In the gift of understanding others lies our own happiness. Let’s become fully available to those who we rub shoulders with..

our gift

The most precious gift we can bestow is one of presence and understanding. When we understand the other, we can know that they too are a magnificent child of God and that they operate within the confines of their consciousness. This allows us to be fully accepting of them and such a genuine approach gives them greater permission to be who they are. The relationship can only deepen now which paves way for the unlimited growth of everyone involved…

How To Handle Change…

Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.  – Karen Kaiser Clark

change…

‘Change is inevitable’ was the topic of a thought-provoking motivational program I viewed last night. What does this mean? How does change impact our personal and work lives? How should we approach change or in other words how should we approach Life itself?

acceptance

When we accept truth, we invite peace. There may not be peace at first but acceptance leads to a resting place from where clarity of mind emerges. With a clear mind we can assess the situation and take next steps as necessary. Once we accept the truth that ‘change is inevitable’ then we better understand that our current circumstances won’t last. When we expect change we can be less fearful. When we welcome change growth becomes possible.

Subject: Death is Not the End

…death is only the beginning of an endless career of adventure, an everlasting life of anticipation, an eternal voyage of discovery.  – The Urantia Papers

death?

This morning (Tuesday, May 1st) my wife and I had the privilege to attend the funeral of our dear friends’ mom/mom-in-law. It was a somber event with hearty sprinkles of love and hope. Their ‘Mummy’ is a lovely soul who transferred a lot of joy to every life she touched. She has now taken residence beyond our plane of existence… We’ll miss her…

‘Subject: Death is Not the End’

We heard later that in the afternoon my friend had received an unexpected email from a publisher with the subject ‘Death is Not the End’!! That was a message from the other side, very heartening!! Thank you God!

There’s no end to our lives. It’s just a transition from one level of vibration to the next. There’s real meaning to our lives. Our lives continue, our relationships continue and the party goes on forever!! Let’s rejoice!

What Is Faith?

Infinite patience produces immediate results.  – A Course in Miracles (ACIM)

what?

We want things now. We want people to just understand us. We want everything taken care of ASAP. We are inherently impatient. We worry about our future and think that we must figure it all out. We lack faith.

faith

To have faith is to be patient. To trust in God is to have patience. When we can let go, when we breathe more deeply, when we believe then we’re practicing ‘infinite patience’. As soon as we adopt this posture, we can rest, we’re at peace. We can more easily access our intuition when we’re peaceful, trusting and patient. Let’s develop this muscle daily!

Why It’s All Up To Us!!

Do you not realize that the hope of a better nation — or a better world — is bound up in the progress and enlightenment of the individual?  – Jesus, The Urantia Papers

up to us

Let’s focus on us. We need to change. Unless we change nothing else changes. Let’s forget about fixing others or being angry at the world and the politicians. The time is ripe, the time is now!

how to change?

Self-knowledge, an increasing self-awareness is the only way. We all want a better life and a world safe for all. Let’s put our attention squarely on self and solicit divine guidance (which is ever present). Next steps become abundantly clear when we make the firm decision to change for the better, to be more loving and to be of service to others…
