The power of being still

It is not necessary that you leave the house. Remain at your table and listen. Do not even listen, only wait. Do not even wait, be wholly still and alone. The world will present itself to you for its unmasking . . . in ecstasy it will writhe at your feet.Franz Kafka

Deep Being

Kafka is calling us to listen and to be, with full intention and attention. This deep level of being allows us to be one with all that is. In this foundational repose you’re fulfilled and want for nothing.

Deep Stillness

This deep stillness is a level of being that can be reached daily and with life changing impact. You awaken the love that might be dormant inside you. You awaken to the full possibility of life, joy, success and happiness. Life which is always abundant can now be claimed by you to do with it what the Universe pleases.

Get drawn by love…

Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.Rumi

Listen First

As your internal (thought created) chatter dies down you can more easily connect with the under-current of Life itself. This can be best achieved via some form of meditation; and staying in the moment as much as is practical and possible.

Then Notice

Notice the thoughts that pop into your head through-out the day, especially when you practice stillness. All the higher thoughts, ones that are filled with love and creative ideas are the ones to focus on! Journal these thoughts, they then become a deeper part of you, which is the idea!

Master of the Universe

Happy is the man who has learned the cause of things and has put under his feet all fear, inexorable fate, and the noisy strife of the hell of greed.Virgil

The Cause of Things

The cause of things flows primarily from 2 sources:

  1. The Universal Mind: The universal creative force that has set certain laws in motion that enable life as we experience it. If we go against the current of this mighty river we suffer. We must learn to flow with it.
  2. The Human Mind: The human mind is the co-creator. We create our life via our intentions, thoughts, actions and interactions. We must understand how this works or we suffer.

Master of the Universe

Once we understand causes and that life is constant change; know how to defeat fear and are happy with the present moment in all its glory, we are then the master of our own universe. In effect the master of the Universe!

Ponder that.

Freedom from the Known

We create our own unhappiness…

Hell has three gates: lust, anger, and greed. The Bhagavad Gita

We create it:

All these three negativities skew our thoughts. All 3 are a result of our thoughts. We create the train of thoughts that leads us in any negative direction. The opposite is also true.

Anything that rattles our minds, throws us off kilter is counter-productive. There’s actually a 4th gate to hell and it’s called Fear!

Seek equanimity:

Equanimity is what we should seek. With a steady, still and reflective mind we’re better equipped to live fully. I suggest 2 techniques in that pursuit:

  1. Free Journaling: Spend 10 minutes daily journaling your thoughts. You just type or write away without judging what comes out. You just throw out any thoughts, emotions, feelings, plans or ideas, put it down on paper or online. Do this daily. It will help you clarify your mind and help it calm down. You’ll garner many creative ideas as well.
  2. Stillness Practice: Practice what will work for you. Just sit and be. Learn to be still, peaceful and calm, look here.

Forgiving for our own sake…

The forgiving state of mind is a magnetic power for attracting good.Catherine Ponder

Yesterday I mentioned that you can light the candle of love (to remove fear) inside your heart and gain direct access to an endless flow of love from the Universal Source. The ‘how of it’ is done by simply being in a state of forgiveness.

  • Forgive yourself: At the deepest level as well as for the trifles of life.
  • Forgive all: Forgive all those who have wronged you; even those who irritate you and especially those who you resent.

When you do that you open a spiritual channel (even a physical one) where you’re now able to receive actual love from the Divine Source. Try the following specifically:

Sit and try one of the Stillness techniques. Then connect with God (Universal Mind) via prayer. If you don’t believe in a personal God then simply sit after this stillness practice; now start forgiving. As you forgive you’ll feel a corresponding lightness in your body, especially around your heart. This, over time, will allow joy to surge inside you. You will be healed of many physical and psychological ailments.  Repeat daily.

Forgiveness opens you up to receive love, which heals, at the deepest levels. To go all the way, there’s another step, tell you about it tomorrow!

Valuable thoughts…

The thoughts that come often unsought, and, as it were, drop into the mind, are commonly the most valuable of any we have.John Locke

There are indeed thoughts that just ‘drop’ into our minds. The valuable ones are of the kind that help us find direction, provide positive motivation, ask us to connect with someone, remind us of an important chore or illuminate that idea we were searching for!

Where do you think these thoughts come from?

I have my own theory; however the way to increase the prevalence of these thoughts, is to have a still mind through out the day. A still mind is possible when we witness all happenings and catch ourselves from being caught in the usual maelstrom that is our thoughts!

Your sacred duty…

Work is not always required. There is such a thing as sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.George Macdonald

What keeps you from just being, rather than always doing? What do you fear, is it boredom? Do you fear your past or being alone?

Just being allows for a deep rejuvenation. Such a non-activity replenishes your body, mind and spirit. It’s time when you can experience yourself across these 3 dimensions. You allow for healing to  take place. Healing that leads to a healthy body, a clear mind and a purposeful spirit.

Why would you not jump at this opportunity?
