A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure.  – Lee Segall

What Is Meditation?

Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in pure consciousness, knowing without thinking…Voltaire

awareness

One goal of meditation is to just become aware of what’s going on without creating thoughts about what’s going on. This practice becomes easier as we just sit and be, regularly. It’s also achievable when we’re amidst nature and just taking in the beauty that surrounds us.

peace

As we reduce the creation of thoughts that describe what’s going on, we begin to experience an ineffable peace. This peace is deeply satisfying and connects us to the ‘pure consciousness’ that undergirds the entire universe!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM simply observing without creating thoughts!

How To Be Super Successful!

Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come…  – Audrey Hepburn

love

Where Are We Looking?

To find that which we need, we must know where to look.  – Namaste Now!

where?

I was scrambling. I knew I was looking in all the right places but where did it go? No matter where I looked I just couldn’t find it!

waking up

And then I woke up. I was looking for my ‘precious’ phone and it was exactly where it was supposed to be. As I got out of bed a realization dawned. First, we must look for that which we need, not just for what we want. Second, we won’t find it unless we know where to look. Deep fulfillment can never be found in making more money or buying the next gadget. It’s found somewhere else. Where?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM looking for the Real!

How To Be Free!

We first make our habits, then our habits make us.  – John Dryden

chained by habits

Habits are unconscious imperatives that run our lives. We live very habitually. Even the way we think is run by habits. Long held beliefs and assumptions are habits of the mind. We are not free.

freedom

Freedom comes from fresh thinking and living. Living that’s not hobbled by dead habits. Fresh living is when we live in the moment and perceive what’s actually going on. Our memory bank no longer runs our lives. We can then be free!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM perceiving things as they are.

Why Be Loud?

If you ask me what I came into this world to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.  – Emile Zola

loud?

If you ask anyone around me they’ll tell you I prefer quiet, certainly not loud! But that’s not everyone, is it? Many of us like lot’s of action and a splash! Sometimes ‘loud’ is necessary to shake things up!

why not!

We do need to be loud when we see the terrible inequalities and the dire state of the planet around us. Someone has to raise their voice to ensure that everyone else knows what’s going on. We can’t all become Buddhas and expect the tyrants to back-down. Peace is essential but so is bold action!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM LOUD!
