What Is Life About?

Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.George Bernard Shaw

find what?

Often we say and we hear others say ‘I wish to find myself’. What does that mean? To me that means ‘self-knowledge’. Knowing what drives us, what ticks us off, when and why we feel peaceful, when and why we react and become angry, etc. Knowing where we come from and where we’re headed is also about finding self!

next?

In discovering our proclivities we now have an opportunity to create. Because it’s not just what we are, it’s more what we can make of self and the possibilities that surround us. The way we are right now is just a start, a beginning, a seed. How can we grow, how can we blossom? What do we need to do that? Our future is in our own hands, minds and hearts! Let’s create!

What Must We Do Now?

A human being is a deciding being.Viktor Frankl

decide

We must decide. We feel lost and a lack of control when we can’t make the necessary decisions. We feel blue. To be happy we must ask the right questions and make the appropriate decisions followed by necessary action…

imperatives

We must decide:

  • What’s most important to us?
  • Where do we need to grow?
  • What will our next steps be?
  • How can we improve our relationships?
  • How can we be happy without being selfish?
  • How can we contribute to Life beyond us?

Let’s not be overwhelmed by all the questions. Work on it like ants do, bit by bit. Take one question, journal it, make some decisions, ask for support from loving ones and don’t be discouraged!

How To Guarantee Growth…

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.  – Viktor Frankl

awareness

The key to long term personal growth is increasing awareness of self. As we become more aware we position ourselves as masters. We realize that self-knowledge will allow us to choose our state of mind. We can then choose happiness, selflessness, growth, love, forgiveness and acceptance.

choice & freedom

How is this choice made? It’s made by the response we provide to any situation in life. When we stop being driven by our animal instincts (amygdala) and learn to step back and allow our higher mind to take control, then we can make wiser decisions in the moment. We then choose the better response in any situation! Consequently we are more free.

What Is True Responsibility?

With great responsibility, comes great power. The more you accept of the first – for your happiness, unhappiness, and all else – the more you are given of the latter. The Universe

responsibility

The word ‘responsibility’ pretty much defines what we’re to do! We are to respond to life’s situations knowing fully well that we author and authorize our own happiness. We decide how we feel and react to any circumstance.

power

Real power is when we know how to be happy, truly happy, through our own choosing. It’s up to us. Let’s be the change we seek in others!

What’s The Ego?

The ego lives by comparisons. It cannot survive without judgment. A Course in Miracles (ACIM)

ego

It’s that part of us that makes life possible. It’s the practical aspect of self that allows us to make decisions daily. Its job is to preserve the self and it does so in a very mechanical and selfish manner. The ego compares and judges constantly. It does that to preserve self in relation to others. For the ego more is always better and being right is always preferable.

transcending ego

Knowing who the real master is, is to know how to transcend the ego. When we reflect or step back we’re allowing more than the ego to operate. Acknowledging that there’s a greater mind than ours, that greater things are afoot and that a master designer rules the foundational realms, is to know how to transcend the ego.

We decide, we choose our thoughts and therefore are we masters of our self and our ego!

Are You Religious?

The religious man is he who does not belong to any religion, to any nation, to any race, who is inwardly completely alone, in a state of not-knowing, and for him the blessing of the sacred comes into being.Krishnamurti

one definition

Krishnamurti defines the religious person here. In his view, it seems to me, a person ought to be his own, not swayed by any factor, condition or knowledge. And in that pure state of silence and being, then, is experienced the ‘sacredness’ which is self-evident and may be termed as a ‘religious experience’.

true religion

What’s our definition of being religious? What are the important qualities one seeks to attain as a religious person? Why is religion important? What is true religion?

What Questions Must I Ask?

What do I intend to do about that?Neale Donald Walsch

questions!

Neale calls them the 3 persistent questions and the 4 fundamental questions of life, reproduced below! We started with persistent question #1 here: What Is It That? Fundamental question #4 is presented above.

what next?

This has been a journey in self-enquiry. It’s a journey that can never end because our selves are deeper than we can imagine. We’re a fragment of the divine creator of it all. We have the ability to co-create with God and it’s up to us what perspective we adopt while on this journey. An adventurous and hopeful perspective will serve us well, because All Is Well and it’s never been otherwise. Rejoice and be happy!

THE THREE PERSISTENT QUESTIONS

1. How is it possible that 6.9 billion people can all claim to want the same thing (peace, security, opportunity, prosperity, happiness, and love) and be singularly unable to get it?

2. Is it possible that there is something we do not fully understand about life, the understanding of which would change everything?

3. Is it possible that there is something we do not fully understand about ourselves, about our own life and its purpose, the understanding of which would shift our reality and alter our experience for the better, forever?

THE FOUR FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS OF LIFE

1. Who am I?

2. Where am I?

3. Why am I where I am?

4. What do I intend to do about that?

Daily Affirmation: Today I ask … what’s next for me?
