How To Truly Be Free…

We are enslaved by anything we do not consciously see. We are freed by conscious perception.  – Vernon Howard

fool self

We fool ourselves. We’re not conscious of our true motives and feelings. Consequently we think we’re a certain way when we’re not. Here’s an example. We show up differently with different folks. We’re a certain way with family and a very different way with a wealthy business tycoon. We may be conscious of this difference but generally not aware of why we do it and while we’re doing it. In everyone’s life there are countless other examples of how we fool self and others.

freedom

As we become more conscious of what we feel deeply versus what we think and then what we actually do, the façade starts to fall. As the façade crumbles we can become free agents in this most amazing experience called Life!

How To Have a ‘Significant’ Life!

The more significance you give the moment, the more the moment has the opportunity to be significant.  – Meditation Society of Australia

moments

Life is made up of moments. Each breath is precious. We know this; it’s not rocket science. Then why do we fritter away precious moments?

significance

First we must decide on the highest use for the time at our disposal. Time is the most precious commodity. Ask any dying person. We are dying too, except for most of us the process is so slow that we end up not valuing the time we do have. Once we know how to best use our time we may have a shot at bathing each moment with the significance it deserves…

How To Understand Life…

If you do not know how to explain life you need only relax and let True Life explain itself to you.Vernon Howard

the big questions

Why do we exist? What is Life all about? What part do we play here? Where are we headed? How can we be happy? What’s the best way to live?

q & a

We ask and Life will respond. Any question asked earnestly and with humility will be answered if we’re patient and open minded. We shouldn’t come from the perspective that we know our way around and can figure everything out. A ‘know it all’ attitude keeps us from the Truth. We must be open enough to see what’s being revealed. And revealed it must be. We are the creator’s offspring and are born with innumerable privileges. We refuse to realize what we have. The trick is to ask and then observe…

How Fear Can Be Our Friend…

Our fears can offer us a little wisdom, a bit of insight and a version of that most elusive thing, the truth.  – Karen Thompson Walker

fear

We must not fear fear. Instead we must look at it differently. How might we do that? Take a peek at this 11 minute TED video by the author of the above quote What fear can teach us.

it’s a story

Karen exhorts us to look at our fears as stories. We create these stories, we are the main characters and we imagine the events vividly, just like an artist. Because the end isn’t quite known there’s even an element of mystery in our creations! By examining the storylines we will recognize that we get drawn to the most vivid and easy to imagine events. We ought to step back dispassionately and examine the plots more objectively. And when we do that our fears might reveal the gift that they are…

Why It’s All Good…

A good fortune may forebode a bad luck, which may in turn disguise a good fortune.Chinese Proverb

good fortune

We seek good fortune. We want our life to be happy and generally uneventful. Turns out our life is not just a bed of roses. To what end is all this playing out? What’s the meaning behind everything? The very question (on meaning) is a clue for us…

all is well

There’s a grand and divine plan. We see the tiniest pieces of it and nary have a clue about what’s going on. If we believe in divinity then it’s in our best interest to keep the faith and know that not only will it all work out but all is well, now.

What Should We Do Next?

The fool wonders, the wise man asks.Benjamin Disraeli

ask & observe

We often ask ourselves; what should I do next? That’s a great step forward, we must ask first. What then? Often we keep asking and nothing seems to happen? What’s going on? Nothing seems to happen because we may be looking for a particular answer… We need to be free of any expectations, and once we’re free, we must observe!

Look for signs from the Universe. They come to us in an infinite variety of ways, through people, situations, inanimate objects etc… Observation is key!

now act…

Once we observe something that appears to be a sign lets take the action that’s called for. If we do; more signs will appear, they always do. We’re now actively on our journey of self and Universe discovery!!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM asking and acting!
