Life After Death?

I would be delighted if there were a life after death, especially if it permitted me to continue to learn about this world and others, if it gave me a chance to discover how history turns out.Carl Sagan

death?

How long do we plan to live? Forever?

Last night I finished watching the ‘Afterlife’ movie on Netflix. It’s not groundbreaking if you’ve read the original books by Dr. Raymond Moody or if you’ve delved into Near Death Experience research by Dr. Jeff Long. This short documentary does bring some of this research together and states unequivocally that Life just continues, death is just a transition…

love

Anyone who returns from a near death experience is transformed. They state that the biggest task at hand for all of us is to love…

Love then appears to be the very reason we’re alive. What does this mean to our daily lives? How can we make love a reality? How can it be a focus every moment?

What’s The Path To Self Realization?

Ask what is separating you from yourself. Answer that question, then see whether you have any other questions…  – Vernon Howard

searching for self?

We often hear that a certain person has gone ‘searching for self’… What does that mean? It can mean many different things and at various levels, here are some possibilities:

  • Searching for our vocation
  • Looking into the meaning of life
  • Questioning our place in the universe
  • Attempting to find our life purpose…

questions!

Questions are the key to discovery! “What is separating you from yourself”? What an amazing question! Helps us inquire into what is ‘self’, what’s most important to us and what’s keeping us from connecting with that ‘self’. Happy sleuthing!

The Fragility Of The Life That We Live…

How can one meditate on life without meditating too on its brevity, its precariousness, its fragility?André Comte-Sponville

life is fragile

Extremely fragile. Just this morning (2/24/2012) I learnt that a close teenaged relative suffered a sudden brain aneurysm, collapsed and is in the hospital right now undergoing surgery. We are all praying hard. Please pray with us.

Update 2/26/2012:

Kabir Sinha my 15 year old nephew is in critical condition after a brain hemorrhage. He’s at the Morristown Memorial Hospital in NJ. The next day or two are very important. Please keep his photo in your mind’s eye and bathe his entire being in healing golden light. He will heal just fine when we do that, thanks!!!

life is fleeting

Life is over before we know it. How can we use this Truth to make the most of life? How should we express our love to everyone around us? What will we regret if we don’t?

What Is Real Integrity?

Do not want others to know what you have done? Better not have done it anyways.Chinese Sayings

hard!

It’s almost impossible to have integrity 24 x 7! It’s hard to be who we truly are. It’s hard to not gossip. It’s hard to be 100% honest in all our dealings. It’s hard to not tell a white lie. It’s hard to be real. It’s hard to have full integrity.

fearless living

On the other hand imagine the opposite; where we can be who we are (without hurting anyone), we can say to people what we think on their face and we can be honest inside/out and in every which way possible! Imagine such fearless living!

Why Desire A Quiet Mind?

The memory of God comes to the quiet mind.A Course in Miracles (ACIM)

a still mind

Why is a still mind desirable? Only from the vantage point of a quiet and still mind can we begin to understand. We can understand what’s going on and where we might venture next…

stillness

Imagine standing in front of a clear, still and reflective pond. The pond reflects a perfect blue sky, the evergreen trees and snow-capped mountains around it. It also allows one to peer into its depths. Such a pond can our mind be. It takes just 10 minutes, twice a day. Will we do it?

Why We Are Never Alone…

… I have come to show you that, while you are seeking to find God, God is likewise seeking to find you.The Urantia Papers

a search

We are all on a search. It may not be for God, it might be to fulfill a deep desire that we don’t quite understand. We are constantly reaching for something. We know we’re on a journey but the path is surrounded with mist and we don’t quite know where we are…

a longing

God is our parent. She seeks us constantly, even when we don’t realize it. By finding us she completes a purpose quite unknown to us. But certainly it must be like a mother finding and hugging her baby! It’s a two-way street, we are not stranded on this planet alone and without direction. If we just pause and become still the constant love, guidance and inspiration that flows our way will become more evident!

How To Handle Debilitating Fear…

…the big things and the real things of this world and the universe are on your side. The sun rises every morning to salute you just as it does the most powerful and prosperous man on earth. The Urantia Papers

debilitating fear

Sometimes we experience debilitating fear. Fear of the unknown and of the future. During such times we tend to lose all power of reasoning and don’t quite know what to do. Our breathing becomes more rapid, life has no meaning, others don’t appear to be concerned and everything seems to be going wrong. There’s no light visible yet because we’re not even sure if we’re nearing the end of the tunnel. How should we handle such a situation?

child of god

Sooner or later we’ll notice that we’re letting ourselves sink deeper into this funk. Once that realization hits, we know that we can do something about it. Let’s start by breathing deeper, way deeper than normal, flush the body with some more life giving and mood-lifting oxygen! Then let’s remind ourselves that we are children of the creator of this Universe! Gosh that’s almost impossible to fathom, which is why it takes so many reminders before this Truth starts to hit home. We are a child of God. Therefore, ultimately, eventually, all is well. The ‘real things’ of this Universe are allied with us, we truly have nothing to fear, heck we don’t even need to fear fear anymore!
