Let It Be…

Let be and be still, and know that I am God.Psalm 46:10

let be

This is a famous Psalm and very often quoted. The standard translation is ‘Be still and know that I am God’. I love the translation above because it encapsulates meditation and even life itself!

When sitting for meditation just let be.

  • Allow your breathing to slow down
  • Let all body tension melt away. Allow your body to relax completely.
  • The mind should stay alert and not dwell on any thought. Let the thoughts arise and let them be.
  • Whenever you notice anything, a discomfort, a thought, a feeling, just let it be, don’t entertain it, let it disappear due to a lack of attention to it.

be still

When you just let be stillness occurs. You can now find yourself in a very calm and alert state. This can take a while, but it does happen with practice. You’ll be amazed and ecstatic when it does! Stay here for a while. This is stillness, a form of meditation.

know god

In this alert and calm state, joy emerges. You will experience peace as you never otherwise know it. In this eternal present moment, all creativity is possible, but greater still, God is present. Experience it and know.

Your Teeth!

Be true to your teeth or your teeth will be false to you.dental proverb

whatever you do

Be true to that activity and yourself. Whether you brush your teeth, smell the roses or simply breathe, pay full attention to that which is happening…

do it for real

Why pay full attention to any such activity?

  • To fully experience it, to be one with it. This is the path to peace.
  • To draw meaning and value from that interaction. That’s a prime purpose for all experiential events.

Approaching Reality

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have.Abraham Lincoln

what’s real?

If you believe in God or a Universal Intelligence then you must agree that reality comes from that source. The source is reality. You must also then agree that our purpose must be to approach or to become that reality.

becoming true

To approach reality our core must be true and pure. We must not be fooling ourselves and living a lie, in any fashion. When we start to live a true life we start to approach reality. We become worthy vessels to experience the essential reality that’s already within us.

Your Base

He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away.Raymond Hull

what others think

  • How much do you care about what others think?
  • What’s important about that?
  • What value do you derive to self, based on what other’s think of you?
  • Are you about revealing others to yourself or you to yourself?

find your base

What is it that anchors you in life? Is it a cup of coffee, your morning prayers, a beautiful scene, a lovely poem or soothing music? It’s important that you recognize what works for you. Once you know what works, it behooves you to sprinkle such experiences throughout your day. Then it becomes a habit. You’ll be able to find your anchor and lower it, daily. You’ve now found your base, just strengthen it moving forward.

Daily Affirmation: Today I practice finding and nestling in my base.

Life Is Beautiful!

The moment one gives a close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world unto itself.Henry Miller

pure attention

Pure attention is what it takes to truly live in the moment. Without attention we live a hypnotized life. One in which we’re constantly lost in our thoughts. What do we miss when we live completely inside our head?

pure beauty

Life is beautiful. And yes it’s in the eye of the beholder. Actually it’s in the consciousness of the beholder. If the beholder doesn’t behold, does the beauty still exist?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM empty in mind. I enjoy the wonders around me!

By Itself…

Who is there who can make muddy waters clear? But if allowed to remain still, it will gradually clear itself.Lao-tsu

let it be

The mind, when allowed to run amuck, can play quite a number on us. Controlling it is not super easy. Stillness helps, especially over time. During the day, even during your meditation, the technique that works best is: Just let it be. If some idea comes knocking at your order, refuse entry. If the idea forces itself in, let it do what it wants but don’t engage. Just let it be. Eventually it’ll get the message and let you be. Peace results.

affects everything else

Once you have peace and can perceive reality, everything else is positively affected. You can see things and face reality squarely. If you erred in your interaction with another person, you’ll know it. You can make better decisions, better relationships and maintain the joy which results from the peace.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM letting go. I flow with life.

The New Religion

Teacher, let’s you and I make a new religion, one good enough for India and big enough for Rome … – Ganid to Jesus (The Urantia Papers)

background

According to the Urantia Papers Jesus spent many months with a couple of visitors from India during his ministry around the middle-east, much before his crucifixion. Ganid the son of an Indian trader, got quite close to Jesus. It’s an account worth reading here!

the new religion

Here’s my take on the tenets of the ‘new religion’ that’s 2000 years old. It’s still ‘new’ because no large group of people has ever practiced it in its pure form. If we did, the world would change. It’s a religion that requires no earthly authority. It’s all between you and God.

  1. God is within you: Tap into that presence via meditation and prayer. Reflect on what this truly means. The God of this whole creation, resides within and shares your life with you! You are very valuable.
  2. God is within everyone else: Treat everyone accordingly. God is the common thread between all of us. That makes us all brothers and sisters. How can this truth guide us daily?
  3. Love is the answer: Relationships are of utmost importance. Anytime you don’t know what to do, ask ‘What will love do in this situation’? Anytime you don’t know how to be, be love. Focus on the right goals in life.

Daily Affirmation: Today I move in God’s presence, I see and acknowledge God in everyone.
