Just like a physical garden we must cultivate and irrigate the inner patch. We do that by staying more in the present and by developing the stillness muscle. Just 5 minutes, twice a day allows us to connect to the center within. With regularity that connection grows stronger and stronger until it bleeds over into most of the day.

A sense of peace emerges. We naturally fall in love with life and with everyone we meet. We now tend to see beyond self. We feel that there’s more than our selfish life. We want to know how to connect to a ‘noble cause’, we feel desirous of discovering our ‘life purpose’. We now understand that the ‘more’ that we’ve been seeking in the past is spiritual in nature and involves the well-being of society. Conscious life now truly begins.

Just like people love to hear their name, they love even more to hear their own voice! When we give that gift to anyone, we are more appreciated than we can imagine!

It’s been a pleasure going through each chapter of The Gita ruminating on any verse that stood out. You may find all related posts here. Here’s what I conclude from this soul exercise:

God is present in our heart. He’s a partner in our daily strivings and accomplishments. Life is lived to the fullest when we accept his presence in faith and act accordingly while serving others lovingly.

the proof is in the pudding

God cannot be proved to anyone else. But his presence is very palpable. His presence is cultivated via Stillness, prayer and loving service. The proof is really in the pudding, let’s taste some of it!

Fear drives a lot of our behavior. We fear loss of relationships, health or wealth and that leads to our reactions to life and to others. The flip side is love. When we experience love, fear has no place inside us. To eliminate fear, which we all want to do, 2 things, in my opinion are necessary:

  1. Faith: A faith in the goodness of the Universe, in God and in the ultimate triumph over any and all evil.
  2. Love: With that faith as our basis we can attempt to connect with that very energy that resides within us. This energy is Love itself.

As we start connecting with that deep peace within us, love gushes up just like a spring fountain! That love then must be distributed to others through genuine service if we are to maintain it. The divine loop is complete: God <—> Self <—> Others. Then love starts to flow through us, from God to others and non-violence is the natural result. We’re fearless because nothing of consequence can hurt us. Life is wonderful!

We’ve heard the same message numerous times, but this bears repeating as a reminder to all of us. All the messengers and great thinkers have independently uttered this truth and underscored its importance in effecting a world filled with love, peace and prosperity!

All 3 levels of being must be involved and targeted to transform self. We might start with Spirit then move to Mind and finally the Body. Maybe we attempt to involve and impact all 3 spheres simultaneously. But attempt we must. We must try to figure out what in us needs to change for the better. As we become better examples of this change, we give others the permission to do the same, we become living models for all. Let’s commit to this noble effort!

Without the balancing and calming female energy in any situation the effort is likely to become too aggressive and overshoot its mandate. The feminine energy can be the calming balm that’s necessary in the world today. Whenever we need resolution to a touchy topic or an argument, let’s seek the ‘feminine’ approach!

Divinity expresses itself equally via the 2 material channels. The male and the female, the ‘on’ and the ‘off’, up and down, electron and proton. The world today is still male dominated when it comes to ideas and policies. When we truly need peace to prevail we’ll want the feminine energy to balance the masculine!
