What’s Your Religion?

God has no religion.  – Gandhi

god’s religion

What’s god’s religion? God as defined is the creator. He’s also in many ways, far beyond our comprehension. Intellectually we’re probably like amoebas to him. If God is love then as his creation he must view us with overwhelming love. If God is love then certainly that’s the universal currency. Love is the answer.

our religion

My definition of religion goes like this: It’s that which helps us approach reality. Reality about our origin, our existence and our purpose. Love makes the world go around and must be the basis for any religion, personal or institutional. If our religion isn’t growing love and forgiveness within us, we must become alert to what will.

Daily Affirmation: Today I move in love and forgiveness for all.

Are We Friendly To Us?

6.8 The soul of man is his friend when by the Spirit he has conquered his soul; but when a man is not lord of his soul then this becomes his own enemy. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

enemy

When we’re not in partnership with ‘Spirit’ and actively elevating our being, we could be our own worst enemies. That’s because we simply don’t know what’s best for us. We flounder about and often make poor decisions. We’re not happy.

friend

When we move with ‘Spirit’ while seeking direction for our lives, we’re effectively in partnership with God. A partnership like this can never fail. Even if the world sees us as a failure, we’re on the right track and thrive from a spiritual perspective.

Daily Affirmation: Today I befriend God.

A Deeper Meaning?

Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. A Course In Miracles

change perception

Gandhi said ‘we must be the change we want to see in the world’, such change begins in how we perceive the world, others and ourselves. When we explore our perceptions, beliefs, assumptions, thought-patterns and expectations we approach greater self-knowledge. That exercise can feed the change we want to see.

meaning

When we perceive external situations they’re colored by the special tint on our experience and DNA infused glasses. We see accordingly, we expect and believe accordingly. As we choose to see what we see, our thinking further underscores that choice. In other words our thinking, our perception and choices reinforce each other. We live in a world of our own creation. Is there meaning in the world and our relationships beyond what we imprint on them?

Daily Affirmation: Today I become aware of my thinking.

Why Our Thoughts Matter

There are no idle thoughts.  – A Course In Miracles

thoughts are powerful

Thoughts initiate. Thoughts create. Thoughts perpetuate. We’re constantly thinking and therefore initiating, creating and perpetuating. What thoughts or thought patterns do we dwell on?

love or fear?

Each thought or thought pattern leads us either into fear or to an experience of love. The two emotions cannot coexist. ‘Today I must buy that present for my friend’ could be a thought we think. If it’s something we’re afraid we might forget to do or we’re doing it because we want our friend to like us, then essentially this thought creates fear in us. Instead if we’re imagining what the effect of that present will be on our relationship and how we might enjoy buying and presenting that gift then this thought leads to more love. No thought is idle, we choose and design at every juncture.

Daily Affirmation: Today I move towards love by becoming love.

How Have We Held Back?

Only what you have not extended to any situation can be lacking.  – A Course In Miracles

view of life

What is our outlook in life? Do we expect things to work out? Do we expect resources to become available? Or do we expect trouble and expect things to sour, even if we do so sub-consciously? It’s what we expect and how we look at life events that determines our experience of such events. It’s how we view our own self that further colors our experiences.

look again

Whenever we find something missing in our life, a relationship or an event, we must look again. We must notice how we’ve held back in participating fully in that relationship or situation. We must notice how we show up. If we seek someone’s love, have we loved fully? Do we love ourselves? If we expect better friendships, how friendly have we been? How friendly are we to us? If we seek abundance, do all our thoughts and actions reflect abundance? Are we generous with our own selves?

Daily Affirmation: Today I give Life my all.

Nothing Unreal Exists

Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
A Course In Miracles

real vs. unreal

What is real? Anything of value to the Universe or to the Creator is real. Anything of value exists because it ought to. We, in our essence, at our core, are real.

peace of God

Once we realize that nothing about us or anyone else is truly threatened, we can rest easy. We can be at peace when we know we’re safe. We are safe and secure, forever.

Daily Affirmation: Today I rejoice because I’m safe!

Why God’s Will?

6.2… and no man can be a Yogi who surrenders not his earthly will. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

who’s a yogi?

The word Yoga can be literally translated from the original Sanskrit to mean ‘unite’ or ‘union’. Union with ultimate reality is the goal of any practitioner (yogi) of yoga! The Bhagavad Gita makes it plenty clear that ultimate reality is God as a person.

my will

Our ‘earthly will’ is just that, very circumscribed, selfish and short-term oriented. We cannot know how our selfish actions will impact the greater good of creation. Therefore it becomes spiritually important that we fine tune our will to be inspired by God’s. Without doubt God’s Will always proceeds from love, understanding, truth, beauty and goodness. We cannot go wrong if we access the divine will and execute on it. That is actually the ultimate adventure!

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek God’s will for me.
