Relationship Success

The secret of many a man’s success in the world resides in his insight into the moods of men and his tact in dealing with them.J. G. Holland

looking deeper

We’re so often embedded in our own self, in our own world view, that we never pause to look, really look into someone’s eyes, into their soul itself. If we did that we would know much better what plagues or what drives the other individual, imagine how powerful that would be?

how though?

Practice is necessary. I often intend to listen deeply, but often forget. We ought to build a habit of it. Also we must be patient and receptive ourselves. We can be so if we’re calm, breathing easy and listening at very deep levels.

Emotional Freedom!

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. – attributed to Helen Keller

avoiding negativity

It’s well known that focusing on the positive is supposed to be good for us. If you agree then putting our attention on the silver lining and the sunshine ought to do the trick. However does that mean we brush the negativity, the resentful thoughts and the hurtful past under the rug?

processing the past (active journaling)

One way to process your past completely is to journal. Not just journal casually and occasionally, but journal actively, with passion, daily and with abandon. You sit down and just start writing away. I call it Active Journaling. You don’t stop until you’ve written whatever’s on your mind, good, bad or ugly, onto paper (or typewritten). You write without worrying about editing, grammar or typos. You just write. Write about your passions, your worries, your fusses, your resentments, hates, likes or dislikes. You just pour your heart out. You write for 15 minutes (or longer) once or preferably twice daily. You focus your full attention on this writing practice, writing as fast as you can without pausing to just dwell on thoughts. You must write down everything that comes to your mind! I first learnt about this technique from Julia Cameron’s best seller ‘The Artist’s Way’. Check out her download here. I then read a fascinating book that helped deepen this journaling practice for me, this book is by Janet Cooper and it’s called ‘Writing Down Your Soul’. I’ve truly enjoyed reading this book on my Kindle!

processing the past (EFT)

The normal way we handle negativities is to try and not think about them. That doesn’t quite work. Another way to neutralize your past traumas, without forgetting the thought itself is via EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). If you’d like to learn EFT, please download the The EFT Manual from Dr. Gary Craig’s website. It’s a technique that combines affirmations with the physical tapping of energy centers around the body. The method effectively rebalances the movement of energy in your body. It works to fix or alleviate most emotional issues and many physical ailments that resulted from such emotional issues. You can also check out a video introduction to EFT on my site here.

A Balanced Lifestyle!

Don’t let success go to your head – and if you fail, don’t let failure go there either!Jane Seabrook & Ashleigh Brilliant

cockiness

We do many things successfully; watch how it changes us. When we don’t listen well, because we think we know already, or when we don’t question, thinking we understand enough, we are being cocky. Cockiness keeps us from being in a ‘learner’ or child-like mode. Remember your failures.

failure

The exact opposite is true when dealing with failure. Let’s understand the key learning and simply move on. Remember your successes.

Growing…

If what you have done yesterday still looks big to you, you haven’t done much today.Mikhail Gorbachev

progressive growth

When we have kids we want them to grow, progressively. We want them to grow physically, mentally and morally. Growth like change, is not optional. So it is from a spiritual perspective. We must grow our current understanding of who we are, how we fit in and what we might do with our lives.

reason for not feeling good

Observe when you’re not feeling good. It’s mostly because of relationship issues and often because we’re not fulfilled with what we do. Achieving a goal or finishing a project is supremely satisfying. We must aim for progressively bigger goals, goals that widen our perspective, ones that expand our awareness.

Love Is All We Need…

If you have love in your life it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don’t have it, no matter what else there is… it’s not enough.Ann Landers

no brainer

Love is all we need. Knowing that a spouse, sibling, parent, our child, loves us… is simply enough to keep us going! We know why we toil. We do it for love.

what next?

Our concept of love must expand. Can we be examples of brotherly love to one and all? It’s a sure ticket to pure happiness and fulfillment. Try it and see!

Simplicity

The more simple we are, the more complete we become.Auguste Rodin

what is simplicity?

Simplicity is when we just are, our minds are not constantly racing and figuring things out. We accept people and situations at face value. We have few needs and are not shaken when things don’t happen as expected.

completeness

We are complete when life is simple. Why? Because we’re not running crazily after undefined goals. We’re happy with what we have and what we are. We know there are still destinations to reach and values to become; however each moment is replete, life is good and all is well.

On The Balcony!

When you look at yourself from a universal standpoint, something inside always reminds or informs you that there are bigger and better things to worry about.Albert Einstein

our worrisome lives

Seems like we flit about daily doing a thousand things while worrying about a million things! Why? Can we possibly slow down? How can we banish worry?

take the balcony view

When you’re on a balcony you can see more, you have a larger perspective and can act accordingly. That’s what’s needed for our own lives. When we just pause, when we consider the longer term, when we simply sit back and listen, we have a much better chance of figuring out the higher, more universal point of view.
