Eyes Of Fear?

… it is never safe to look into the future with eyes of fear.  – Edward Harriman

fear?

How do we conduct ourselves through the day? Do we worry that things may go wrong? Do we try to save every penny? Do we worry about contracting disease or exposing self to germs? What’s our general outlook?

hope, faith, love

What’s the opposite of this mode of living? What if we were hopeful instead of fearful? Hopeful that today will turn out great. That we’ll be safe and healthy. That we’ll be loved and lack nothing. We must become aware of how we approach life, because that’ll guide what experiences we draw to self. Hope for the future, faith that all will be well and love for all including self will design our joyous future…

How And Why To Be Meek…

Genuine meekness has no relation to fear. It is rather an attitude of man cooperating with God “Your will be done.” It embraces patience and forbearance and is motivated by an unshakable faith in a lawful and friendly universe.  – The Urantia Papers

‘an attitude’

Meekness and humility go hand-in-hand. It’s an attitude that we don’t know it all. It’s an acquiescence that a greater power, our parent, is in charge. Once that’s accepted then it follows that we should cooperate with God. Is there a better way forward?

‘unshakable faith’

It’ll be hard to cooperate if we’re fearful. Fear really has no place in our lives. We’re the princes and princesses who don’t know that we’re royalty! When everything is said and done, we live in a very friendly and safe universe. God, our Father, created it all, no real harm can ever befall us!

Why We Must Praise First!

Beginning with praise is like the dentist who begins his work with Novocain. The patient still gets a drilling, but the Novocain is painkilling.Dale Carnegie

begin with praise!

If we have to find fault with another and convey news that might not be palatable to their ego then how should we do it? We can start by genuinely praising the individual. This sets the stage to deliver the harsh truth. It opens the individual up to receive the truth about their actions. Let’s be practitioners of the ‘Art of Relationships’!

leadership principles

22nd Dale Carnegie Principle: Begin with praise and honest appreciation..

Here’s a story from the book:

A friend of mine was a guest at the White House for a weekend during the administration of Calvin Coolidge. Drifting into the President’s private office, he heard Coolidge say to one of his secretaries, "That’s a pretty dress you are wearing this morning, and you are a very attractive young woman."
That was probably the most effusive praise Silent Cal had ever bestowed upon a secretary in his life. It was so unusual, so unexpected, that the secretary blushed in confusion. Then Coolidge said, "Now, don’t get stuck up. I just said that to make you feel good. From now on, I wish you would be a little bit more careful with your Punctuation."
His method was probably a bit obvious, but the psychology was superb. It is always easier to listen to unpleasant things after we have heard some praise of our good points.

Why We Must All Be Free!

I wish that every human life might be pure transparent freedom.  – Simone de Beauvoir

happy independence day

July 1st and July 4th mark independence for Canada and the United States, respectively, congratulations!! Independence Days by Month and Country.

We ought to be free. What does that mean?

We should be free of fear. We should be free of our biases and ignorance.  We should free ourselves of our limiting assumptions. We should be free of all negativity. We should free others of our expectations. We should freely forgive everyone including self. We should be free to love. We should be free of others’ opinions of us. We should be free of what society thinks we should be doing or wearing.

We should free ourselves from excessive materialism. We should free some time up to devote to God. We should free some time up to serve others.
