Where?

…that all you have to do is know where you’re going. The answers will come to you of their own accord.  – Earl Nightingale

where to?

Where art thou headed?

proceed with confidence

Having faith that we’ll be provided with all that we need, including direction and resources, is key. We are like babes in the wilderness, there’s not that much we can do to protect ourselves. So what do we do? We keep trekking forward, believing that all will be well!

Daily Affirmation: Today I move forward in faith.

Gita: That Which Is

1.24 Beyond the power of sword and fire, beyond the power of waters and winds, the Spirit is everlasting, omnipresent, never-changing, never-moving, ever One.

1.25 Invisible is he to mortal eyes, beyond thought and beyond change. Know that he is, and cease from sorrow. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 1)

spirit is

Krishna, God, continues to explain to Arjun that Spirit is the true underpinning of all that is. It is what’s real. The material is but a shadow of true reality, it hinges on and comes from Spirit.

know, fear not

Even intellectual understanding of the fact that Spirit is, can be calming and will remove fear. This Spirit is the essential us. We are safe, all is well, all will be well. Look within.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM with Spirit.

First Things First

Young souls learn to accept responsibility for their actions. Mature souls learn to accept responsibility for their thoughts. And old souls, dear one, learn to accept responsibility for their happiness. The Universe

thoughts & actions

Actions are noticed first, which is why they garner more attention. Thoughts, count for more. When we’re responsible for our own thoughts, right actions flow more easily. Thoughts become things…so by being responsible for our thoughts, we take responsibility for our life!

happiness, a thought system

Seeking happiness first is not a selfish attitude. Our greatest happiness is tied directly to the happiness of those around us. So when we take responsibility for our own happiness, we are directly and indirectly signing up for a much higher goal. Truly if we put ‘our’ happiness first, and be responsible for it, we’re sailing! Happiness is a thought system, one that we create for our selves, we have no one else to blame or praise except us.

No Try, No Dodo!

Try not. Do or do not, there is no try.Master Yoda

no try

When we use the term ‘try’ we’re really sending a signal to our own sub-conscious and to the Universe that we don’t really mean it. Paying attention to our words (and refrains) helps pinpoint our hidden assumptions and attitudes. Watch our thoughts, we must!

no dodo

Doing is great of course, but we live in a culture where we do more than we should, we’re constantly doing, so much so that we’re in danger of becoming Dodos. Balance is essential. Let’s do what really needs to be done and no more, making time for reflection, strategy, thinking and meditation.

Gita: Real vs. Unreal

1.16 The unreal never is: the Real never is not. This truth indeed has been seen by those who can see the true.

1.20 He is never born, and he never dies. He is in Eternity: he is for evermore. Never-born and eternal, beyond times gone or to come, he does not die when the body dies. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 1)

arjun

Arjun the great warrior is perplexed about his duty on the battlefield. ‘Battlefield’ here is also a metaphor for life. He’s face to face with enemies who are his relatives and he’s not sure about engaging them and being the cause of their demise.

krishna

His charioteer is Krishna, the divine personage, whose ‘song’, or ‘Gita’ the Bhagavad Gita truly is! The divine charioteer can also be a metaphor for the ever present divinity inside each soul. Krishna reveals that the soul (our true identity) inside us is eternal. There’s nothing to be truly worried about in life.

The Bhagavad Gita

To be, or not to be – that is the question.Hamlet by Shakespeare

a spiritual poem, it is

‘To be or not to be’ is also the question that The Bhagavad Gita asks. This holy tome is the spiritual essence of Hinduism and is revered by countless many around the world. On the Kindle I find it easy to read a few passages daily and in so doing I’ve highlighted my favorites. I’d like to share with you, one or more each week.

The first translation I read of the Gita was a Penguin Classic by Juan Mascaro. The translation was so simple and easy to understand, whilst still poetic and beautiful, I fell in love with it. I’ll be using the same translation for these blogs, hope you enjoy!

What You Really Want…

What you really want is something that you can’t think about. Now think about that.Howard Vernon
