Why Thoughts Matter

There are no idle thoughts.A Course In Miracles

thoughts separate

When we’re lost in our thoughts two things are going on. One is that we’re not aware of our connection to source and therefore unable to access our higher mind. The second is that we’re creating our future without being conscious of that fact.

thoughts create

By practicing stillness and by purposefully building a habit to stay in the moment we pave the way for greater creativity and clarity in life. Creativity is not just about creating art but , more importantly, it’s about making our life itself a work of art. Because ‘there are no idle thoughts’ let’s be more intentional on how we think. Let’s partner with the ‘higher mind’, while staying more in the moment, and design the life that we deserve.

When There’s Nothing Else to Know…

7.1 Hear now, Arjuna, how thou shalt have the full vision of me, if thy heart is set on me and if, striving for Yoga, I am thy refuge supreme.

7.2 And I will speak to thee of that wisdom and vision which, when known, there is nothing else for thee to know. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 7)

for the asking

The goal of the ages is obtainable just for the asking. This book reveals that when the pupil is ready the teacher appears; when we ask we’re given. That’s especially true if we seek the ‘kingdom of God’ within because then everything else that’s spiritually necessary to achieve this ultimate goal is added onto our lives.

the greatest knowledge

The greatest knowledge is that which:

  • Allows us to live happy and fulfilling lives today
  • Helps us understand reality and our place in it
  • Clarifies for us where we’re headed

According to this ‘bible’ of the Hindus, when we seek ‘Yoga’ (union) with ultimate reality (God) then we start a chain of events that ultimately leads us to the very doorstep of All That Is.

How To Walk The Talk …

We all have to start with ourselves. It is time to walk the talk. Take the journey of making very difficult decisions. Start removing things from your life that are not filling your cup and adding things that bring joy in to your life.Lisa Hammond

truth

Being true to self is super tough. It’s so hard to look at self with objectivity. How can we do it when we live in ourselves? But that is what’s required if we’re going to progress in our relationship to self, to others and to the world.

reflection

With reflection comes greater self-knowledge. Journaling on deep-soul questions is an amazing way to reflect, here’s a blog I had written on it. As we reflect through journaling and meditation we grow. That in turn allows us to simplify our lives. A simple life is a joyous one.

Daily Affirmation: Today I reflect and simplify.

The Way Of Silence

6.24 When all desires are in peace and the mind, withdrawing within, gathers the multitudinous straying senses into the harmony of recollection,

6.25 Then, with reason armed with resolution, let the seeker quietly lead the mind into the Spirit, and let all his thoughts be silence. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

constant theme

A harmonious mind that withdraws inwards is what The Gita touts as being the main pre-requisite to contact with the Divine.

in the silence

A resolute mind that’s in the silence can approach ‘Spirit’ which resides in such a mind. In the continued silence can be heard the guidance of the spirit. It’s the ‘still small voice’ that struggles to be heard beyond the electro-chemical storm that brews inside our brains. It’s also a joyous explosion of love that can be felt rising from the deepest parts of such a quiet mind. It’s palpable and very real.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM still and conscious of THAT which IS.

What’s Most Important To Me?

The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.  – Morrie Schwartz

what?

What’s most important to me? If we dwell on and journal this question often we’ll be all but forced to live a fulfilling life. How can I use my time most effectively? Once we  know what’s most important to us, we can think about how to spend our time. The rest follows automatically!

this week’s quote above!

This blog is off during the week of February 28th, see you back on March 7th!

Daily Affirmation: This week I dwell on that which is most important.

Why Change Our Perception?

Inside yourself or outside, you never have to change what you see, only the way you see it.Thaddeus Golas

change others!

We are driven. Driven to mold others in our own image. We know all the answers, we can help others be better and we know how to help others end their suffering. Heck we even know how the world can be a better place, we just know it all Smile!!

change self

Love the quote above! If we changed the way we view self and the world, we’d be a lot happier. The way to see an object is to see it as it is, not color it with our past experiences of it. The way to see people is to see them as they truly are and to recognize the magnificence that they often hide. The way to see our selves is to see with a soft, loving and forgiving gaze, knowing that we shall triumph and that all will be well!

Daily Affirmation: Today I truly see.

Why Goodness Wins…

As you view the world, remember that the black patches of evil which you see, are shown against a white background of ultimate good.  – The Urantia Papers

evil

Often we focus only on negativities. The press certainly does. We too perk up when we hear bad news from around the world. Why is that? One explanation, of course, is that we feel better when we discover our own circumstances to be better than others’. Another reason is that we feel that world-wide turmoil might lead to the better tomorrow we all want.

goodness

And that’s exactly what will happen and is happening. Let’s know and expect that goodness triumphs, that God’s plan will play out, that evil can’t last and that a brotherhood of mankind is now beginning to dawn! Celebrate!!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM a sibling to all.
