Why It’s Easy To Hurt Anyone…

Before the tongue can speak, it must have lost the power to wound.  – Peace Pilgrim

blurting it

Most of us love to blurt it out. Consequently we hurt others by uttering unkind words. How can we minimize this tendency?

speak in love

Let’s breathe consciously before uttering a single word. Next we must accept the love of our creator. This love falls on us like refreshing rain on parched grass. But just like hardened ground is unable to soak in the rain we too must be soft, pliable and open if we’re to receive this ubiquitous love. Once we do, we can more easily be loving to others…

How To Fix ANY Problem!

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.  – Rumi (the untold story)

suffer

Why do we worry? It’s because we think we need to figure it out. Why do we suffer? External events or people are often what we blame. So how can we stop worrying and suffer less?

wiser

By becoming wiser. One is wise if we leave the larger problems to be solved by God. If we do what we can and trust that it all works out. And if we realize that we suffer mainly due to the way we think. Like Gandhi said too ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’…

Why We Need Religion!

Religion inspires man to live courageously and joyfully on the face of the earth; it joins patience with passion, insight to zeal, sympathy with power, and ideals with energy.  – The Urantia Papers (99:7.3)

religion?

We need religion. It’s our means to connect with reality, ultimate reality. It’s a way to figure out who we are and why life has meaning.

happiness

Studies have shown that ‘religious’ folk are happier than the rest. Why is that? To be religious means to have faith and a belief in providence. We feel safe and know that ultimately goodness triumphs. We also realize that it ‘all works out’…

Why We Matter…

There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet.  – Brooke Medicine Eagle

awaken

What is it to be awakened or enlightened? Simply knowing our origin and destination qualifies us as being enlightened. Our origin is divine and so is our destination. We are children of God. When we accept the ramifications of the previous sentence we’re awakened and on the spiritual journey…

caretakers…

We are to be caretakers, of the entire planet. Of our brothers. Of the poor, the tired and the sick. We must bring joy to others. How can we do that today?

Why We’re Not Perfect…

The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.  – Anna Quindlen

perfection?

We are either hard on self or on others. How? We beat ourselves up for not being a certain way, not being thin enough, not beautiful enough or simply not good enough. Whenever we don’t like what others have done or how they behave we’re essentially questioning their lack of perfection!

not possible

We all know that perfection isn’t quite possible on this planet. Then why do we behave as though it’s within reach? It’s an internal creative drive but we shouldn’t let it overrule us. We have all of eternity to be perfect, for today let’s just take it easy, just be,  and enjoy that beautiful sky or the fall colors out there!

Why Routine Can Be Bad!

One should always be a little improbable.Oscar Wilde

routine

Routine is good when it allows us to set and achieve daily goals. It can ensure that we be healthy and happy. But routine can be counter-productive.

hypnotized

We generally move around hypnotized, lost in our thoughts and do our regular chores without being completely awake. And therein lies the rub. Because we’re not awake and present to the moment, we miss out on life. The way to fully participate and be a little unpredictable as a result, is to be keenly alive and in the moment!
