What It Takes To Be Great…

Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. Martin Luther King Jr.

greatness

We’re all driven. Driven by our genes, the circumstances that define us, our aspirations and our desires. Sooner or later we learn that the only worthwhile desires are those that provide longer lasting fulfillment and happiness. They also happen to be desires that involve people other than us. Selfishness doesn’t satisfy in the long run. Of course selfishness is understandable because we feel that if we don’t take care of us, who will? Greatness comes from realizing that a greater force is in charge of everything, including us. That force when allowed will guide us into a very satisfying and fulfilling life.

via love

That greater reality, that force that beckons and guides us is approached via love. It in fact is love. When we allow such love to flourish in our heart and flow out from us in the form of kind service then we’re living our moment-by-moment purpose. Then all is well. Our soul slowly becomes ‘generated by love’ itself. The entire universe then becomes our playground and everyone around us is a brother or sister. We’ve arrived as cosmic citizens!

How The Truth Can Set Us Free!

9.6 Even as the mighty winds rest in the vastness of the ethereal space, all beings have their rest in me. Know thou this truth.

9.13 But there are some great souls who know me: their refuge is my own divine nature. They love me with a oneness of love: they know that I am the source of all.The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 9)

the truth

As is often said, ‘we move and have our being’ in God. It is a Truth that can set us free. We play in God’s lap, we’re ultimately safe, nothing of eternal import can harm us. We ought to be worry free. We ought be full of joy and celebrate!!

through love

When we can daily experience God’s partnership in life, when we feel his love and can be conduits for it, when we serve others in love without seeking reward, then we know God and know that he is Source.

Daily Affirmation: Today I serve and trust the Source.

Why Fear Must be Banished!!

The key to change … is to let go of fear.Roseanne Cash

the grand scheme

Because of our animal origin (evolution) and uncertain place in the Universe we live in fear. Maybe not the ‘grand’ scheme but part of the purpose of Life and of this Universe is to give us opportunities to banish fear. Look at anything happening in our lives. We have relationship issues because of what we fear the other might do, say or think. We have fear about our jobs, our health, our well being etc. Why should we get rid of this fear? Love cannot exist where fear does. Love feels a lot better than fear Smile!God wants his children to live in peace and in love. In love we can be truly connected to each other and build wholesome relationships. That, is an end in itself; which is why fear must be erased!

love not fear

To understand why we fear, to increase our self-knowledge of why we act and think the way we do, is important. Even more important is to allow love to flourish in our beings. We must become gentle, loving and kind beings. That is the sure way to transform self and eventually the planet. Let’s pledge to love self and others whole-heartedly!

Daily Affirmation: Today I banish fear through love.

The Goal Of Ages…

8.7 Think of me therefore at all times; remember thou me and fight. And with mind and reason on me, thou shalt in truth come to me.

8.14 Those who in the devotion of Yoga rest all their soul ever on me, very soon come unto me..The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 8)

think of me

We move and have our being in God, everything is God. Another way of stating this is that God is Truth, God is the essence, God is the goal… In this verse ‘God’ exhorts the human to set his mind on the eternal goal, fight the inner fight and achieve the goal of the ages…

the spiritual dimension

Beyond what we see, underneath it all, there’s a whole lot more. When we can still our mind, achieve a certain equanimity, allow our brain to function at lower frequencies than beta, then we can and do have access to what’s beyond. Here we’re connected to a global, non-local consciousness. This is the path to higher guidance from universal intelligence…

Why We Must Let Go…

People are so used to having their own way, they get distressed when something higher than themselves tries to have its way with them. And that, by the way, is what Truth, Reality is always trying to do, which is to dislodge you from your own life so that it can give you what it has prepared for you.Vernon Howard

listen

Everything that happens to us is a message, the good the bad and the ugly. We ought to heed and pay attention, because when we don’t the prodding from ‘Truth’ and ‘Reality’ continues…

There’s a certain purpose afoot to all that goes on. When we pay attention and go ‘with the flow’ life becomes an adventure, more fun and certainly more meaningful.

let go

We must let go and relax. As we do that literally and figuratively, we can attune to the march of the Universe. We come closer to Nature. The Universal Life current itself starts to guide us, and as a result we’re happy campers! We can then explore what Life really has in store for us, which isn’t quite possible if we aren’t open to it.

Daily Affirmation: Today I glide with Life.

Why God is God…

7.6 All things have their life in this Life, and I am their beginning and end.

7.7 In this whole vast universe there is nothing higher than I. All the worlds have their rest in me, as many pearls upon a string.

7.8 I am the taste of living waters and the light of the sun and the moon. I am OM, the sacred word of the Vedas, sound in silence, heroism in men.The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 7)

origin

We live in time and space. Time appears to move in one direction, forward and space appears to be expanding at all times. That’s highly suggestive of all things having originated at a time far distant in the past. Origins beg a cause. That ‘first cause’ can be termed God. According to The Gita, all Western Religions and many other belief systems, God is the ultimate person. He knows and he sees, just like we can. He created it, and us all, for a grand purpose…we can relate with her directly and one-on-one!

the highest

The highest ideals and the highest qualities are reflective of the creator. All creation marches towards perfection by accentuating and experiencing these ideals and qualities. That then is also a purpose of it all. God is alive and well, rejoice, fear not and ‘be exceedingly glad’.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM happy and safe because God IS!

That Which We Must Conquer…

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.Sir Edmund Hillary

never the external

All that we dislike, all that irritates us, all that we desire and want has an origin in our inner life. It’s how we interpret life and circumstances that determines how we do and how we feel about self and others. So the quest for peace, for happiness, towards fulfillment and self-realization must begin and end within.

inner life

Our inner life is therefore paramount. Nothing more and nothing else. What does that mean? It’s all about…

  • How we view self and others
  • What irritates and pleases us
  • What’s important to us, our life purpose
  • How we can stay happy and selfless

How’s our inner-life?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM aware of self.
