How To Endure And Overcome!

The willow knows what the storm does not: that the power to endure harm outlives the power to inflict it. Blood of the Martyr

endurance

We’re put through certain experiences to become better humans. We can live all experiences in the following ways:

  • Kicking and screaming: Which means we’ll likely have to relive the lesson being imparted until we get it!
  • Without awareness: We’ll probably learn the specific lesson but may not be very good at applying it broadly.
  • Fully Participating: This kind of participation yields the highest benefits to us, the folks we interact with and therefore the entire Universe.

We gain wisdom and endurance when we fully participate with the plans of the Intelligence that pervades all time and space…

strength

Once we understand that life is a series of lessons and that endurance is a key attribute that God desires us to have, we can ‘flow’ with life… We experience it without kicking and screaming, life is then most meaningful…We can overcome any life situation.

The Beginning, End and Middle…

10.20 I am the soul, prince victorious, which dwells in the heart of all things. I am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all that lives. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10)

in the heart

It has been stated, boldly and explicitly, in most religious texts.

God resides within.

It’s the greatest truth ever that was revealed to man by God and made evident to him, in his own heart. ‘Despair not’, God says, ‘all is well, I’m in your heart, I hear you, I care for you, you’re not alone, rejoice! And remember, I reside in every other heart, so take good care of your brethren, my children.’

all that is

There is nothing but the divine. In our circumscribed internal world, our models of the world, we might dream up that which is not wholesome and make it externally real. But we’re contained in divinity, surrounded by the holy and we march to the drum of the eternal…

Why There’s No Need To Worry!

If you pray, why worry? If you worry, why pray?St. Padre Pio

worry?

Set an hourly timer and ask the following questions of self:

  • What was my dominant thought the last hour?
  • What am I dwelling on right now?

Increasing awareness is the silver bullet that will kill all the demons within and without. More and more of us are doing this across the planet and for that reason our future, for the first time in history, is bright, rejoice!

pray

Prayer is our connection with the Divine or if you will, with the Universal currents. As we pray, even constantly, chatting with ‘All That Is’, with the Parent of all that we see and experience, we strengthen our connection. If we trust in an all-seeing Upholder, we have nothing to worry about, period.

Where Art Thou?

10.17 … in meditation, how shall I ever know thee? And in what manifestations shall I think of thee, my Lord? The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10)

the cry

Arjuna, in this epic tale, implores the God Person, Krishna, to reveal to mankind how God is to be known and recognized. This is the archetypal call that each human makes, and must make, to understand reality and his place in the Universe. What are we crying for? What are you crying for?

seeking

In everything that we do, we’re seeking. We seek for our identity, our place, our call, our significance, really our raison d’être. And in that seeking is the journey experienced, and in experiencing that journey is found life’s meaning and a deep fulfillment. We are extremely fortunate. In ages to come, we’ll look back at this amazing, short, intense, birthing experience on this planet with longing. Never again will we experience life at this coarse level, never again will we enjoy so much meaning and learning in such a short period of time. Let’s live, love and learn, that’s the only way forward!!

How To Grow Spiritually…

Think of yourself as if you were the only un-enlightened person in the world. Everyone else is your teacher, doing what is right to help you acquire consummate peace of mind, consummate wisdom, consummate compassion. The Buddha

life

Life’s experiences, which consists of dealing with and relating to other individuals, are the big teachers. Let’s consider everyone around us as being the perfect people for our own best development. Let us regard each person as being the ‘enlightened’ one and each encounter as holy. Then, not only do we learn what we need to learn most, we can appreciate how others add to our lives even when they’re irritating!

peace, wisdom & compassion

If we have peace of mind, we’re happy and in a great place to learn from life and others. From that comes wisdom, which allows us to make the right choices not just in action but also in thought. Add to this a compassionate outlook, where we think of serving others before serving self, and it makes for a recipe for an amazing life! This recipe guarantees happiness and wonderful relationships! Do we need anything else?

What Is Meditation?

So meditation is a process of freeing the mind from systems, and of giving attention without either being absorbed or making an effort to concentrate.Krishnamurti

conditioning

We are thoroughly conditioned beings. We get conditioned by our surroundings, our culture, our parents, friends and innumerable other sources. We think in certain ways and find it hard to break out of our self-created molds. When we start becoming aware of such conditioning then meditation is truly happening.

effortless awareness = meditation

Krishnamurti describes meditation very beautifully and succinctly in this quote. If we can practice awareness, full awareness, without any effort then we’re in the state of stillness. This is the state in which transformation of self can occur. Transformation happens as we become more aware of our conditioning and also when we readily receive divine inspiration during meditation. Armed with what needs to change and how, all we need to do is act on this knowledge!

How To Live A Full Life…

The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are. Marcus Aurelius

tackling life

These two principles are all we need to live life fully. We ought to keep our equanimity, which becomes possible after much practice and meditation plus we ought to be able to look at life objectively. When we’re calm we’re able to receive divine help, we’re able to make better decisions and we’re more easily headed in the right direction.

practice

To gain equanimity practice is essential. Here are some stillness practices. The basic idea is simple:

  • Find 5 minutes 2-3 times a day to be with self
  • Relax your body and mind
  • Focus attention on breathing

Self-knowledge is required if we’re to face life squarely. Self-knowledge comes from attention. Attention to how we react to events and attention on why we do what we do. Marry these two principles and we have the perfect recipe for handling any situation!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM still and attentive.
