Why We Must Be Still…

We yearn for a moment’s peace and quiet, only to turn on the radio, make a phone call, or run an errand as soon as an opportunity for solitude presents itself.Ronnie Polaneczky

constant movement

We fill our life with motion. Incessantly. Why?

ponder

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We’re running away from self. We do need action in life, just not constant action. At some level we’re afraid of facing our apparently lonely self. We feel more alive when we’re moving. Life is movement. When we’re still and without interaction we fear our mortality
breathe instead
Let’s take pause and focus on our breathing. Slowly we’ll find ourselves calming down. The mind will want to race, let it, don’t attach attention to it or to its production, which are thoughts.
Once we start getting used to being still, at rest, a peace will start to descend, actually emerge from within. Then we will know that we’ve never been alone.
How To Build A Better World Starting Today…
You want a better, more fraternal, more just world? Well then, start building it: Who is stopping you? Build it inside yourself and around you, build it with those who want it. Build it small, and it will grow.  – Lanza del Vasto
we must be the change
Let’s look in the mirror first. How can we change? How can I change? The change must be sweeping, where we deal kindly with our children, colleagues, everyone… How else can it be systemic within us?
extreme kindness
I like to call it the ELK Principle, Extreme Loving and Kindness towards anyone we touch daily. Start with kind thoughts for self. Design each thought to be loving and lovely. Try to see the innocence and magnificence in every human. Mentally utter a Namaste to them. Very hard to do consistently but worth practicing daily.
Why We Must Let The Past Be…
The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.Leslie P. Hartley
the past
The only true consciousness of time that we have is of the present moment. Just like the previous moment, the past doesn’t exist, it’s gone. When the future arrives, which it does every moment, it is our present. For creativity to flourish we must be worry-free and operate in the Eternal Now.
Why We Matter More Than We Know…
Every cell, every human being, is of equal importance and has work to do in this world.Peace Pilgrim
self-esteem
If all self-esteem issues would disappear we would have world peace! Self-esteem is the main cause for all conflict. We want to control others so that they do what we want them to do so that we feel better and important. The world is all about us, where we came from, what we perceive and what we would like to see happen…
we matter
We matter more than we can realize. We matter to God, which is why he made us universally unique. God loves us. We matter to the Universe because without variety life would be boring. We are not boring. And we matter to Life because it would be incomplete without us. We complete everything. Once we realize this we have our work cut out for us…
Why We Must Forgive…
Those who feel they are victims will be most eager to make victims of others.Vernon Howard
victim?
How do we feel when we’ve been victimized? It gets us mad and we feel awful. We think it’s ok to not be nice to others; we might even decide to hurt someone else.
forgive
Instead we should consider understanding the situation and the other person. Understand our own reaction and why we felt hurt. Then remind self that feeling hurt and victimized only injures us. Can we possibly forgive the person and the situation? Can we feel whole again and regain our peace?
Daily Affirmation: Today I AM forgiving therefore peaceful!
Why We Should Say ‘Yes’ To Life!
When you say "yes" to the "isness" of life, when you accept this moment as it is, you can feel a sense of spaciousness within you that is deeply peaceful.Eckhart Tolle
this moment
This moment is, it just is. Accept it. Breathe deeply and let go. Now, feel that acceptance settling in…
When we do so experientially, we begin to feel the calmness and peace that pervades all that is. And this despite the movement of life and time itself.
life
When we accept this moment and reside fully therein, we’re ready to accept all that Life brings to us. It doesn’t mean we appreciate everything that’s happening to us. It just means that we accept it, can feel the ‘nowness’ and can act from this settled frame of mind. And then we do the same thing in the next moment, and the next…
When Expectation Is Ok!
Expectation is a gift not a burden!  – From Cyberspace
root of all evil?
When we expect from others, we’re bound to be disappointed! That’s because we’re steeped in our own thoughts and assumptions which in turn are a result of our past. We cannot truly be in another person’s heart…
perspective
We do feel burdened by what others expect of us! However, we shouldn’t be, as the rest of this quote suggests, the real reason people expect from us is because they believe in us, they trust us and they rely on us! Now that’s a positive spin that can work for us, at least occasionally!
Daily Affirmation: Today I AM  reliable!
