Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. – Dale Carnegie
procrastinating into negativity
When we procrastinate what we’re really doing is gathering more reasons to explain why we suck or why our life’s not going anywhere! We’re allowing ourselves to sink into a dark place. We must become aware of what we’re thinking and what we’re doing!
action builds courage
The rest of our life begins today! What would we do if we were getting a brand new opportunity? We are! Let’s take that first step and resolve to take another small one tomorrow… That’ll do it! We’ll build confidence and feel accomplished. As we feel better we’ll be happier! Now was that our goal to begin with?

How Mistakes Strengthen Us!
While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior. – Henry C. Link
afraid
We live in fear. Our aversion to making mistakes is another way fear shows up in our lives. We’re so afraid that we hold back. By holding back too much we stifle our creativity and fail to seize opportunity around us. What cost do we pay when we live too safely?
just do it
Often times the best thing to do is to just do it. Yes we’ll make plenty of mistakes, it’s only human. But we’ll have fewer regrets. And if we make mistakes that affect other people we’ll have to deal with that. Nevertheless, life will be a more lively experience! Why shy away, just do it!!

Why We Might Challenge Others!
The desire to excel! The challenge! Throwing down the gauntlet! An infallible way of appealing to people of spirit. – Dale Carnegie
challenge!
To encourage action consider throwing down a challenge! An appropriate challenge will galvanize action like nothing else! A human’s ego is a very sensitive appendage, touch it in the right way and it’ll make the human do the unexpected. It goes without saying that the challenge must be a genuine effort and not manipulation.

20th Dale Carnegie Principle: Throw down a challenge!
Here’s a story from the book:
Sing Sing, at the time the most notorious penitentiary west of Devil’s Island, was without a warden. Scandals had been sweeping through the pristin walls, scandals and ugly rumors. Smith needed a strong man to rule Sing Sing – an iron man. But who? He sent for Lewis E. Lawes of New Hampton.
"How about going up to take charge of Sing Sing?" he said jovially when Lawes stood before him. "They need a man up there with experience."
Lawes was flabbergasted. He knew the dangers of Sing Sing. It was a political appointment, subject to the vagaries of political whims. Wardens had come and gone – one had lasted only three weeks. He had a career to consider. Was it worth the risk?
Then Smith, who saw his hesitation, leaned back in his chair and smiled. "Young fellow," he said, "I don’t blame you for being scared. It’s a tough spot. It’ll take a big person to go up there and stay."
So Smith was throwing down a challenge, was he? Lawes liked the idea of attempting a job that called for someone "big."
So he went. And he stayed. He stayed, to become the most famous warden of his time. His book 20,000 Years in Sing Sing sold into the
hundred of thousands of copies. His broadcasts on the air and his stories of prison life have inspired dozens of movies. His "humanizing" of criminals wrought miracles in the way of prison reform.

Why It Takes Drama!
Merely stating a truth isn’t enough. The truth has to be made vivid, interesting, dramatic. – Dale Carnegie
drama!
This is the age of showmanship! Consequently Dale suggests that we ‘dramatize’ our ideas if want our audience to listen. Drama doesn’t have to only be about making noise or a splash. As an example drama can very easily be created by whis-per-ing when people expect you to be much louder. Drama can be understated and it can be an expression of art. Let’s think out-of-the-box when applying drama to make our idea stand-out!

20th Dale Carnegie Principle: Dramatize your ideas!
Here’s a story from the book:
Jim Yeamans, who sells for the NCR company (National Cash Register) in Richmond, Virginia, told how he made a sale by dramatic demonstration. "Last week I called on a neighborhood grocer and saw that the cash registers he was using at his checkout counters were very old fashioned. I approached the owner and told him: ‘You are literally throwing away pennies every time a customer goes through your line.’ With that I threw a handful of pennies on the floor. He quickly became more attentive. The mere words should have been of interest to him, but the sound of Pennies hitting the floor really stopped him. I was able to get an order from him to replace all of his old machines.”

Why It’s All Up To Us!!
Do you not realize that the hope of a better nation — or a better world — is bound up in the progress and enlightenment of the individual? – Jesus, The Urantia Papers
up to us
Let’s focus on us. We need to change. Unless we change nothing else changes. Let’s forget about fixing others or being angry at the world and the politicians. The time is ripe, the time is now!
how to change?
Self-knowledge, an increasing self-awareness is the only way. We all want a better life and a world safe for all. Let’s put our attention squarely on self and solicit divine guidance (which is ever present). Next steps become abundantly clear when we make the firm decision to change for the better, to be more loving and to be of service to others…
