Are We Friendly To Us?

6.8 The soul of man is his friend when by the Spirit he has conquered his soul; but when a man is not lord of his soul then this becomes his own enemy. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

enemy

When we’re not in partnership with ‘Spirit’ and actively elevating our being, we could be our own worst enemies. That’s because we simply don’t know what’s best for us. We flounder about and often make poor decisions. We’re not happy.

friend

When we move with ‘Spirit’ while seeking direction for our lives, we’re effectively in partnership with God. A partnership like this can never fail. Even if the world sees us as a failure, we’re on the right track and thrive from a spiritual perspective.

Daily Affirmation: Today I befriend God.

Why God’s Will?

6.2… and no man can be a Yogi who surrenders not his earthly will. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6)

who’s a yogi?

The word Yoga can be literally translated from the original Sanskrit to mean ‘unite’ or ‘union’. Union with ultimate reality is the goal of any practitioner (yogi) of yoga! The Bhagavad Gita makes it plenty clear that ultimate reality is God as a person.

my will

Our ‘earthly will’ is just that, very circumscribed, selfish and short-term oriented. We cannot know how our selfish actions will impact the greater good of creation. Therefore it becomes spiritually important that we fine tune our will to be inspired by God’s. Without doubt God’s Will always proceeds from love, understanding, truth, beauty and goodness. We cannot go wrong if we access the divine will and execute on it. That is actually the ultimate adventure!

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek God’s will for me.

Reaching Freedom

5.27/28 When the sage of silence … closes the doors of his soul and, resting his inner gaze between the eyebrows, keeps peaceful and even the ebbing and flowing of breath; and with life and mind and reason in harmony, and with desire and fear and wrath gone … he in truth has attained final freedom.  The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 5)

harmony

Having overcome desire for the frivolous, fear and anger, the person in pursuit of ultimate reality approaches harmony. Harmony promotes a deeper connection with all that is.

stillness

Meditation can help us reach that state of harmony; as we become more still, the spirit within us has more sway over our conscious mind. That’s especially true if we desire that guidance. The harmony in turn leads us to a deeper contact with inner reality. Harmony and meditation, feed each other. Regular meditation allows us to move in harmony through-out the day, doing that in turn deepens our practice of meditation.

Daily Affirmation: Today I move in harmony and stillness.

What Is Sin?

5.17 Their thoughts on Him and one with Him, they abide in Him, and He is the end of their journey. And they reach the land of never-returning, because their wisdom has made them pure of sin. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 5)

meditation

According to this the holiest book of Hindus, God is the grand purpose and the prime destination of life. One practice essential in contacting this godhead is meditation. This verse prescribes how a mortal can reach the ultimate human goal.

sin

Any action or thought that takes us away from our prime objective can be tagged as ‘sin’. The wisdom that we apply to daily living along with meditation leads us to life’s goal. Knowing the destination and the means to get to that destination is knowledge that’s precious.

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek the ultimate goal.

How Surrender Leads To Peace…

5.12 This man of harmony surrenders the reward of his work and thus attains final peace: the man of disharmony, urged by desire, is attached to his reward and remains in bondage. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 5)

surrender

What happens if we do our best in any given situation and have no expectation regarding the outcome? In relationships we love, we give and we care; at work we focus, we work towards goals and deliver excellence, and we expect not a certain result. In other words we surrender to life while living life to the fullest.

peace

Surrendering is surely not an easy practice. We think thoughts constantly and many of them have to do with what we expect will happen next or later. So it’ll have to be a new mental muscle that we slowly develop. Because when we do, peace drops into our midst quenching the thirst produced by our constant striving.

Daily Affirmation: Today I give my best and expect not.

Love Is The Greatest Reality

5.3 Know that a man of true renunciation is he who craves not nor hates; for he who is above the two contraries soon finds his freedom.

5.7 No work stains a man who is pure, who is in harmony, who is master of his life, whose soul is one with the soul of all.The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 5)

balance –> freedom

Balance appears to be a key to success, peace and happiness. When we’re even minded (at peace) our physical brain frequencies hum at a lower rate (alpha). This allows us to receive direct input from Universal Intelligence. That’s where the freedom comes from. We feel at ease, we’re not disturbed and we gain insights from the Creative Source daily!

the one soul

We are all connected at source. The stuff that reality is made of is the same stuff that our souls are made of. The way to connect to that ‘stuff’ is via a restful mind that uncovers the treasure trove of love inside us. That love guides us into understanding and experiencing how we’re all connected. Harmony results.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM love.

In Partnership With God

4.24 Who in all his work sees God, he in truth goes unto God: God is his worship, God is his offering…

4.39 He who has faith has wisdom…and he who finds wisdom, soon finds the peace supreme..The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 4)

it’s all god

The stuff that the universe is made of, comes from God. We come from God. When we keep that in mind, we can have God as our constant companion. It’s making this approach a habit that makes it very powerful.

faith leads to peace

When we consciously accept that God moves with us, we are guided, we are safe, we can now leave all outcomes to providence and we can slowly learn to let go… This faith helps us gain a certain peace, and that’s a goal we all seek.

Daily Affirmation: Today I see God in everything.
