How To Be Safe!

Life carries you where it will because you are a part of itself; then there is no problem of security, of what people say or don’t say, and that is the beauty of life.Krishnamurti

attention

We often move through the day hypnotized. We swim in a sea of thoughts, constantly thinking and rarely pausing to clear our minds. When we pay full attention to something, at that moment, we cease to think, we can see very clearly. We are then fully observing and not creating thoughts about the experience. Let’s use the same principle to understand our motivations and fears in life. Life becomes an adventure when we seek to understand self.

life

What would happen if we don’t worry about the future and regret not our past? Life can then happen. When fear is banished and we live more firmly in the present we can flow with the mighty river called Life. We are then connected with Life because we realize that we’re a part of it. And that’s the journey…

How To Interest People…

The really great man is the man who makes every man feel great. G. K. Chesterton

interesting others

Most people love to talk! We should let them! Not only that, ideally, whenever we open our mouths we should focus on what’s most important to the other person. And lets do so genuinely. Relationship success is thus guaranteed!

life principles

8th Dale Carnegie Principle: Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.

An excerpt from the book:

Everyone who was ever a guest of Theodore Roosevelt was astonished at the range and diversity of his knowledge. Whether his visitor was a cowboy or a Rough Rider, a New York politician or a diplomat, Roosevelt knew what to say. And how was it done? The answer was simple. Whenever Roosevelt expected a visitor, he sat up late the night before, reading up on the subject in which he knew his guest was particularly interested.
For Roosevelt knew, as all leaders know, that the royal road to a person’s heart is to talk about the things he or she treasures most.

What To Handle Boredom?

Dream different dreams while on the same bed.Chinese Proverb

bored?

What should we do when we feel bored? Here’s a suggestion, ask some questions:

  • What would we rather do?
  • What is this state of feeling bored?
  • What are we really seeking?
  • What’s missing?

imagination

What we often don’t use is our amazing faculty of imagination! Remember, each moment of our lives is brand new and unique. Never again will such a moment ever come into being! That idea is mind boggling! Change is ever-present, time is passing, so where are we in all this??

The same mind that claims its bored can be turned on its figurative head! Let’s use our power of imagination to dream up a life that’s even worthier of living. Let’s dream up goals that are worth pursuing. It’s only when we think small that we tend to get bored. Let’s unleash the power of this moment, NOW!

Why We Must Reach For Big Goals!

Little minds have little worries, big minds have no time for worries.Ralph Waldo Emerson

worry

There’s no one amongst us who doesn’t lose precious time and energy worrying about life. We worry because we fear life, a next step or what can go wrong. We’re like a diver worrying all the way to the top of the diving board. How well can we possibly perform?

big goals

We’re less likely to worry if we focus on things larger than self and larger than life. Once we learn more about self and know what really get’s us going, what we are truly passionate about and what we care deeply for, then the path becomes clearer! When the destination is clear, all we need to do is place our sights on it and continue moving forward one step at a time. Our focus on the goal keeps us from worrying!

How Can We Be Trusting And Why?

When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just do what you know is right?Questions

who’s responsible?

Given the state of our world and the apparent lack of divine over-control it’s no wonder that we feel that we must figure it all out. We feel the pressure, we feel alone, we feel the fear, we think we must do it all and so we go ‘calculating’ and planning our lives….

childlike

There is another way to live. God does exist. He is our parent. We are looked after. There is a higher way. We are guided.

We must be childlike. We must trust. We must have faith. All is provided. With childlike curiosity we may observe and take advantage of all opportunities that are presented to us. Life can be peaceful and fulfilling!

What Is Life About?

Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.George Bernard Shaw

find what?

Often we say and we hear others say ‘I wish to find myself’. What does that mean? To me that means ‘self-knowledge’. Knowing what drives us, what ticks us off, when and why we feel peaceful, when and why we react and become angry, etc. Knowing where we come from and where we’re headed is also about finding self!

next?

In discovering our proclivities we now have an opportunity to create. Because it’s not just what we are, it’s more what we can make of self and the possibilities that surround us. The way we are right now is just a start, a beginning, a seed. How can we grow, how can we blossom? What do we need to do that? Our future is in our own hands, minds and hearts! Let’s create!

What’s In A Name?

We should be aware of the magic contained in a name and realize that this single item is wholly and completely owned by the person with who we are dealing…Dale Carnegie

what’s in a name?

Everything! How does it sound when someone calls our name, and that too sweetly? It sounds divine even when we don’t consciously realize it! This then is a simple way to endear self to others: Remember names and use them profusely!

life principles

6th Dale Carnegie Principle: Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

Here’s a story from the book:

Napoleon the Third, Emperor of France and nephew of the great Napoleon, boasted that in spite of all his royal duties he could remember the name of every person he met.

His technique? Simple. If he didn’t hear the name distinctly, he said, “So sorry. I didn’t get the name clearly.” Then, if it was an unusual name, he would say, “How is it spelled?”

During the conversation, he took the trouble to repeat the name several times, and tried to associate it in his mind with the person’s features, expression and general appearance.

If the person was someone of importance, Napoleon went to even further pains. As soon as His Royal Highness was alone, he wrote the name down on a piece of paper, looked at it, concentrated on it, fixed it securely in his mind, and then tore up the paper. In this way, he gained an eye impression of the name as well as an ear impression.
