The ultimate gift we can give anyone is the gift of deep and unhindered listening. Why do so many people yearn to talk and express themselves? What gift will they shower on us next? We give when we listen, and we receive at the same time! Listening is a very profitable venture!

When we listen deeply to others, we allow them space to express themselves. We give them permission to be who they are. We enable them to be creative. We witness the unfurling of their soul. We do a great service when we truly listen.

We are all on a search. It may not be for God, it might be to fulfill a deep desire that we don’t quite understand. We are constantly reaching for something. We know we’re on a journey but the path is surrounded with mist and we don’t quite know where we are…

a longing

God is our parent. She seeks us constantly, even when we don’t realize it. By finding us she completes a purpose quite unknown to us. But certainly it must be like a mother finding and hugging her baby! It’s a two-way street, we are not stranded on this planet alone and without direction. If we just pause and become still the constant love, guidance and inspiration that flows our way will become more evident!

We all seem to have an inherent sense of the laws that pervade our universe. We know for example that the seasons follow a certain rhythm and that what goes up must come down. Many also believe that we shall ‘reap what we sow’. How might this truth impact our daily living? Why is it important to understand this?

what goes around…

Thoughts come first. And thoughts are as real as physical deeds and actions. Our intentions are thoughts too. So our intentions are important. Our attitude is another form of thinking thoughts and yields its own impact. Thoughts are vibrations and whatever we intend or project is carried across time and space to people and events around us. Nothing is secret to the Universe. All that we do and think is transparent to the laws that govern our existence. What would happen if we live with the full integrity of knowing this truth? In other words what would happen if don’t think ill of anyone and if we conduct our lives knowing that we are an open book?

So is there a secret to life or not? Here’s what a consultant would say, ‘it depends’! And it does depend, there’s no one big secret to life, but there are many little secrets that do guarantee progress and satisfaction to a human being.

fear not, only love

We are fearful creatures. It’s so ingrained in us and we’re so timid sometimes that it bears repeating a million times.

fear not. fear not. fear not.

But that’s a negative proposition. The brain can’t process it as easily, so here’s the perfect antidote to fear, in the form of a positive admonition!

only love. only love. only love.

You might wonder why I wrote the admonitions above the way I did? Saw that in a presentation today, just makes the point more clear.

Love, when placed firmly in the heart will not allow any other negative emotion to co-exist, as simple as that. Love for self, for others, for Life and for God, an all-encompassing love, is the only way, the only answer to any question and to any situation!

Many of us live in our reasoning minds. It’s the mind that’s run by our brains. We’re conditioned that logic must be applied to every aspect of life. ‘It must make sense’ we’re told. And we buy that ‘logic’! How much time are we spending ‘thinking’ from the head vs. operating from the heart?

The power to create, the power to imagine, the power to live life fearlessly, the ability to have fun and the place from where we know where to go next, all resides in the heart. There is no big secret. And that’s life’s gift to us. A lot of what we do and create is entirely up to us. We make up a bunch of this. Which also explains why this planet is in the shape it is. There are guiding principles but that’s about it. We are truly creative beings, offspring of the mighty and loving master artist!

We are invited to create. We are invited to play. We are invited to experiment. We are artists let loose. How will we approach life? With fear and apprehension or as children in a playground? We are ultimately safe. Let’s rejoice in this assurance! Let’s go out and play!

cry?

Why do so many of us hesitate to cry? Why can’t we fully express ourselves? What are we afraid of? What’ll happen if others see us as we truly are? What’s the worst-case scenario when we are real with others and self?

transparency

There’s real value in expressing who we truly are. When we do that we find self. What we don’t like about self will emerge. What we love will also emerge. We may not be the best judge of what’s good or not so good within us. If we don’t express fully, the best of us will stay submerged inside us just like the worst. Let it all come out. We can be adults, we will deal with it! We will change what’s necessary…
