Why Often It’s Better To Be Quiet…

No one has a finer command of language than the person who keeps his mouth shut.Sam Rayburn

communication

Life is all about connecting with others; what would we do alone? We assume that communication means talking and expressing. However a lot can be communicated through silence. What was Jesus trying to communicate when he kept his silence during his trial in front of Herod? He had made his case to Pilate and he knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere with Herod so he submitted to the moment and kept his peace.

benefits

Silence has many benefits. It helps us keep our composure. It allows others to talk, express and be heard. The listener can learn and be more sympathetic. In the face of injustice, when nothing else works, silence is often the best response. The scales of justice will eventually tip in favor of the oppressed. Silence is also the perfect antidote to the hustle, the bustle and the craziness of modern society.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM a listener.

Why We Can Never Be Defeated…

Why doesn’t constant trampling defeat the dandelion? The key to its strength is its long and sturdy root, which extends deep into the earth. The same principle applies to people. The true victors in life are those who, enduring repeated challenges and setbacks, have sent the roots of their being to such a depth that nothing can shake them.Daisaku Ikeda

sturdiness

We all get hurt, we sometimes feel defeated. We also lose hope. But we keep going. No one I know has given up, neither have you. We all have a strong measure of hope and the ability to rebound. Where does this indomitable hope and faith come from?

deep roots

The truth is that we do have deep roots. The roots if followed deeply enough, will lead us to our own origin. We come from the greatest of lineages, we come from the very author of all that is. We are his children. We will survive. We will flourish. Let’s not lose sight of our divine inheritance. We are princes and princesses waiting to be ‘born’ to our birth right. Let’s wake up to this eternal reality by accepting it as fact, in faith and with full expectation!

Daily Affirmation: Today I revel in my divine right as a child of God.

What It Takes To Be Great…

Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. Martin Luther King Jr.

greatness

We’re all driven. Driven by our genes, the circumstances that define us, our aspirations and our desires. Sooner or later we learn that the only worthwhile desires are those that provide longer lasting fulfillment and happiness. They also happen to be desires that involve people other than us. Selfishness doesn’t satisfy in the long run. Of course selfishness is understandable because we feel that if we don’t take care of us, who will? Greatness comes from realizing that a greater force is in charge of everything, including us. That force when allowed will guide us into a very satisfying and fulfilling life.

via love

That greater reality, that force that beckons and guides us is approached via love. It in fact is love. When we allow such love to flourish in our heart and flow out from us in the form of kind service then we’re living our moment-by-moment purpose. Then all is well. Our soul slowly becomes ‘generated by love’ itself. The entire universe then becomes our playground and everyone around us is a brother or sister. We’ve arrived as cosmic citizens!

How To Approach Self-Transformation…

The questioning of presently-held viewpoints is an absolute necessity for self-transformation. It means that you must go against your old and familiar ways of thinking. It means you must think, act, and feel the exact opposite of other people.Vernon Howard

question everything

Why do we feel the way we feel when someone does something we don’t like? Why do we react a certain way when things go our way or they don’t? What keeps us happy and engaged? What is it that worries us? These are the kinds of questions to explore deeply about self if we’re serious about self-transformation.

think for self

We don’t have to feel exactly the opposite of others all the time, but it’s a great good clue to how to think! Most folks think based on habitual thinking patterns or how society would like them to think. So thinking against the grain is not a bad idea as long we don’t make it a habit. We must think flexibly and not robotically, that’s the idea. We must not behave hypnotically which we tend to do most times!

How The Truth Can Set Us Free!

9.6 Even as the mighty winds rest in the vastness of the ethereal space, all beings have their rest in me. Know thou this truth.

9.13 But there are some great souls who know me: their refuge is my own divine nature. They love me with a oneness of love: they know that I am the source of all.The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 9)

the truth

As is often said, ‘we move and have our being’ in God. It is a Truth that can set us free. We play in God’s lap, we’re ultimately safe, nothing of eternal import can harm us. We ought to be worry free. We ought be full of joy and celebrate!!

through love

When we can daily experience God’s partnership in life, when we feel his love and can be conduits for it, when we serve others in love without seeking reward, then we know God and know that he is Source.

Daily Affirmation: Today I serve and trust the Source.

What Question Will We Ask Today?

The question! … Always live within the question! It is when you think you have all the answers that expansion ends, growth stops, and your arrogance begins. What question do you wish to humbly ask today?Neale Donald Walsch

arrogance

We live arrogantly. We think we know and have answers. In this arrogance we lose because this very attitude keeps us from learning, from looking, from observing, from listening and from growing as personalities.

ask

What would happen if we were ever curious, much like children? Think of a child who’s always asking her parent about anything and everything. That kind of child-like curiosity and humility is what guarantees our growth and therefore our happiness. It’s the same attitude that will help us uncover our Life Purpose and raison d’être!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM curious like a child!
