discover or create?

Do we discover and uncover our selves or do we create our selves? Depends on what you think your deep self is. The Eastern way to see it is that our inner-self is perfect, waiting to be uncovered… Another way to think is that we’re born with a tabula rasa and it’s up to us to create a life.

how about both?

I believe that it’s both paradigms working at the same time. We have an eternal component within us; that’s the potential we’re trying to actualize. As we do that, we grow our own selves, we create our own lives.
