A Grand Purpose!

There is a great and glorious purpose in the march of the universes through space. All of your mortal struggling is not in vain. The Urantia Papers

a purpose to it all

As we finalize and firm up our 2011 resolutions let’s assume that there’s a purpose to all that we do. Why assume? Because for one we can’t be 100% certain until our consciousness emerges on the other side of this mortal life. Also because it’s a great assumption to live by, purpose automatically gives meaning to our lives.  So what’s your life purpose?

finding and creating our purpose

In my opinion our life purpose is a product of two forces. One is that which is given us, it’s our spiritual DNA, it’s our very uniqueness. We can see, interpret, feel, value, do and deliver concepts and things like no one else in this stupendously large universe! The other force is one of our own creativity. We’re born with certain talents and abilities, what we do with these gifts is largely up to us. God (the Universe) wants us to be creative and original. In choosing our own paths we contribute immensely to the larger. Which is why our ‘mortal struggling’ is never ‘in vain’!

Daily Affirmation: Today I claim my talents and carve my purpose.

Daily Adventure

Adventure isn’t hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day to day obstacles of life — facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and in the process, discovering our own unique potential.John Amatt

what do we seek?

What are we after when we seek adventure and excitement in our lives? What do we truly want?

life is adventure

Often what we seek is not outside our current situation. If we can approach daily living as an adventure we can enrich our experience, be more fulfilled and not feel as empty. We seek something else… examining that ‘feeling’ deeply will allow us to understand ourselves, that in turn leads to greater serenity…

Daily Affirmation: Today life is the adventure!

Expecting Abundance

Once, when we were discussing a world peace project with my teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, somebody asked him, ‘Where is all the money going to come from?’ And he replied without hesitation, ‘From wherever it is at the moment.’ – Deepak Chopra

expectations

We get what we expect. We get according to our faith. And we get what we ask for. We all live with a set of core beliefs. These beliefs are more powerful when they’re so deeply ingrained as to be second nature and sub-conscious. If life isn’t what we want it to be, then we must examine our deepest beliefs about it.

expectation = reality

When we can consciously choose our thoughts and design our beliefs & assumptions then we can, within certain limitations, sculpt our life experiences. What do you hold deeply?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM conscious of manufacturing my thoughts.

All In Our Mind

All my life I’ve watched people waiting for someone else to make them happy. The way I got it figured, the only one who can make you happy is you. – Aaron Martinson

who or what next?

What will we buy next to quench our desires and to become happy? Who must be a certain way for us to be pleased? What must happen at work and in our careers for us to be satiated? What do we yearn for? What do we truly desire?

all in our mind

Heard that story about the fisherman in Mexico discovered by an American Tourist? If not here it is, pick any link. It’s funny we know this truth but we’re nevertheless compelled to keep seeking. The truth is: We have everything right now to be happy. It’s pretty much all in our mind (and hearts), how we think, what we make of who we are, what we have and what’ll satisfy us. It’s a fine balance of course, we must still strive for the better life. But when is it enough? How do we distinguish between the ever-lasting and the temporal?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM satisfied.

Our Precious Life

This lifetime will never come again; it is precious and irreplaceable.  – Daisaku Ikeda

one life

This lifetime is all we have. All we have is now. How can we best live, today?

precious you

We make our life precious. It’s what we think, what we assume, what we intend, what we envision and what we do that matters. What we keep thinking and doing determines our life’s outcome. We choose our thoughts, we choose the life we live. What will we choose today?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM responsible for my own life.

Authoring Our Self…

You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny.  The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand.Irene Kassorla

we’re responsible

We can’t allow fashion or popular culture to influence us unduly. We should take what works for us and reject that which we think will impress others. How can we be aware of that which we borrow for effect?

originality = destiny

How can we create our destiny without originality? I posit that it becomes easier and effortless if we’re original and truly dancing to the music inside us. The more we look to others or compare our lot with everyone around us, even Tom, Dick and Harry, the more effort is required to become ‘successful’.

Daily Affirmation: Today I author myself.

Signs For Life

All things are filled of signs, and it is a wise man who can learn about one thing from another. – Plotinus.  – Plotinus

there if we notice

If we believe that life isn’t random and that there might be a design as well as a designer then life and things have meaning. Meanings that we must discover, patterns that we must uncover, and connections that hide undercover.

creating meaning

But assuming that there is pre-existing meaning might be a mistake. Here’s why: It could be quite possible that God (the designer) is delighted when we give things and events our own meaning, brand new meaning, something not put together ever before!! In other words creation rejoices when we create. What do you think?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM watchful for signs.
