How To Be Happy!

Uplift everybody and uplift yourself!Yogi Tea

us first?

We seek to maximize our personal happiness and security. And for that reason we can be selfish. Even though happiness lies inside us the path inward might begin out there!

them first

If we spend time thinking of others first, making them happy, giving others hope, pointing out the silver lining to others, then we feel better. A long string of studies including one 2000 person study (referenced in book below) found that ‘acts of altruism—giving to friends and strangers alike—decrease stress and strongly contribute to enhanced mental health’. So let’s make others happy first!

How To Write Our Worries Away…

The problem of life is to change worry into thinking and anxiety into creative action.Harold B. Walker

the problem

Sometimes all we do is worry without being clear about the problem. When that happens we tend to procrastinate. The more we procrastinate the greater the level of stress due to inaction. What can we do about this?

life principles

4th Basic Technique in Analyzing Worry: Write out and answer the following questions:
     a. What is the problem?
     b. What are the causes of the problem?
     c. What are the possible solutions?
     d. What is the best possible solution?

Writing about the situation can be very helpful. Even if we don’t have a solution, we move forward when we express the problem via writing. Let’s try it!

What Comes First?

If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.Eckhart Tolle

me first

What we face in life is mostly our own making. We invite experiences into our lives based on our emotional vibrations and what we need most for our growth. If we want to ‘fix’ something it’s not the situation or other people, it’s us we need to focus on…

seek first…

What if we seek that which God seeks for everyone? This way we not only ‘fix’ self but we do so while being aligned with what divinity seeks for all of us. This results in the highest happiness for us and those around us. It’s literally a universal win-win situation!

What’s Our Life Purpose?

The sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.  – Carl Jung

life purpose?

When we’re floundering in life and don’t quite know where we’re headed, what we’re really looking to find is our life purpose. We do have a fairly specific life purpose and can work towards discovering it if we so choose. However we also have a very basic life purpose…

bring joy

Our purpose is to bring joy to others. We may do this as spouses, as kids, as parents and as friends. We can also do so as citizens of this planet. If we simply hold this purpose high in our daily consciousness, we’re guaranteed a supremely happy life. What else is there?

How To Cultivate The Zen Mind!

In the beginners mind there are many possibilities, but in the experts there are few.  – Shunryu Suzuki

the beginner’s mind

Such a mind is childlike. One that sees things anew, doesn’t discount anything, has few regrets and worries not about the future. It lives squarely in each moment.

possibilities

Unencumbered such a mind is free to be creative and truly resourceful. This mind seeks possibilities, expresses emotions, resents not and exudes joy. What kind of mind do we have? Or does our mind have us?

Why God?

The joy, peace and fulfillment we seek come from being filled with God…  – Joyce Meyer

god?

What does God have to do with anything? Everything actually, and that’s the point. God may be perceived as a ‘force’ or as a personal being. In either case God created everything and is not divorced from daily reality. If we accept that then what’s keeping us from making contact?

joy!

When we walk with God daily, know that he listens, can share our lives with him and not fear our future, then ‘joy, peace and fulfillment’ will be our experience.
