What Is Sin?

5.17 Their thoughts on Him and one with Him, they abide in Him, and He is the end of their journey. And they reach the land of never-returning, because their wisdom has made them pure of sin. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 5)

meditation

According to this the holiest book of Hindus, God is the grand purpose and the prime destination of life. One practice essential in contacting this godhead is meditation. This verse prescribes how a mortal can reach the ultimate human goal.

sin

Any action or thought that takes us away from our prime objective can be tagged as ‘sin’. The wisdom that we apply to daily living along with meditation leads us to life’s goal. Knowing the destination and the means to get to that destination is knowledge that’s precious.

Daily Affirmation: Today I seek the ultimate goal.

A Grand Purpose!

There is a great and glorious purpose in the march of the universes through space. All of your mortal struggling is not in vain. The Urantia Papers

a purpose to it all

As we finalize and firm up our 2011 resolutions let’s assume that there’s a purpose to all that we do. Why assume? Because for one we can’t be 100% certain until our consciousness emerges on the other side of this mortal life. Also because it’s a great assumption to live by, purpose automatically gives meaning to our lives.  So what’s your life purpose?

finding and creating our purpose

In my opinion our life purpose is a product of two forces. One is that which is given us, it’s our spiritual DNA, it’s our very uniqueness. We can see, interpret, feel, value, do and deliver concepts and things like no one else in this stupendously large universe! The other force is one of our own creativity. We’re born with certain talents and abilities, what we do with these gifts is largely up to us. God (the Universe) wants us to be creative and original. In choosing our own paths we contribute immensely to the larger. Which is why our ‘mortal struggling’ is never ‘in vain’!

Daily Affirmation: Today I claim my talents and carve my purpose.

What’s The Greatest Wealth?

Contentment is the greatest wealth. The Urantia Papers

wealth

  • How do we define success for ourselves?

  • What is true wealth?

  • How much is enough?

  • What do we truly ‘need’?

  • What do we ultimately seek?

contentment

The very source of it all, the fountain of truth, the satisfaction of all our true desires, our eternal guide and our ultimate goal resides quietly within our hearts. It yearns to make contact, but often cannot because of the electro-chemical nature of our minds. It also does not because we don’t seek it. It never forces, but gently prods if we only listen. Stillness helps in making contact.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM satisfied and thankful.

How To Find Love

Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek & find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.Rumi

we seek love

In whatever we seek, we’re really seeking love. We seek assurance, safety and happiness; these are all the consequences of experiencing the love which can only come from another personality. True love and assurance proceeds from the parent personality that is God, and her love is easier to discover than we might expect…

ask, forgive and expect

Just like our spiritual heritage in general, we block our own experience of love and goodness that’s ever available to us. The steps are as follows:

  • Ask. Talk to God and ask to experience this love.
  • Forgive: Unless we forgive everyone (including ourselves) and extinguish the resentment that sears our hearts, we will not be able to uncover this divine wellspring.
  • Expect: After asking and forgiving, be like a child and expect our parent’s love to be ever present.

Daily Affirmation: Today I walk in God’s love.

A Secret To Happiness…

We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves.Rochefoucauld

we hide

We hide behind a façade that’s manufactured by us, over the years, and eventually lose sight of how we were born. We are more concerned about how we appear to others. We don’t want to be hurt and certainly we don’t want to be exposed. A child is more herself compared to how she’ll eventually grow up.

our essence

We are a unique expression of Universal Intelligence. We do have many rough edges, nevertheless we must expose our nature to the outside world. We must let go and experience our gifts to the world and to us. We must be child-like. That’s a secret to happiness.

Daily Affirmation: Today I express my child nature.

God Is Here Now!

4.8 For the salvation of those who are good, for the destruction of evil in men, for the fulfillment of the kingdom of righteousness, I come to this world in the ages that pass. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 4)

through the ages

Contrary to popular belief God never stopped paying attention to us. He and his messengers have been coming to earth to keep the message alive. The message is simple actually and at the same time very powerful.

god is

God created it all. He is ever present in us. His presence in us makes him ever accessible. He’s our forefather. For that reason everyone around us is our sibling. His pre-eminence and his universal family makes up this simple and life changing Truth.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM God’s child.
