How To Endure And Overcome!

The willow knows what the storm does not: that the power to endure harm outlives the power to inflict it. Blood of the Martyr

endurance

We’re put through certain experiences to become better humans. We can live all experiences in the following ways:

  • Kicking and screaming: Which means we’ll likely have to relive the lesson being imparted until we get it!
  • Without awareness: We’ll probably learn the specific lesson but may not be very good at applying it broadly.
  • Fully Participating: This kind of participation yields the highest benefits to us, the folks we interact with and therefore the entire Universe.

We gain wisdom and endurance when we fully participate with the plans of the Intelligence that pervades all time and space…

strength

Once we understand that life is a series of lessons and that endurance is a key attribute that God desires us to have, we can ‘flow’ with life… We experience it without kicking and screaming, life is then most meaningful…We can overcome any life situation.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM like the Willow, strong!

Why There’s No Need To Worry!

If you pray, why worry? If you worry, why pray?St. Padre Pio

worry?

Set an hourly timer and ask the following questions of self:

  • What was my dominant thought the last hour?
  • What am I dwelling on right now?

Increasing awareness is the silver bullet that will kill all the demons within and without. More and more of us are doing this across the planet and for that reason our future, for the first time in history, is bright, rejoice!

pray

Prayer is our connection with the Divine or if you will, with the Universal currents. As we pray, even constantly, chatting with ‘All That Is’, with the Parent of all that we see and experience, we strengthen our connection. If we trust in an all-seeing Upholder, we have nothing to worry about, period.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM joyous!

Love To Criticize?

If you truly desire to overcome the habit of criticizing some friend, the quickest and surest way of achieving such a change of attitude is to establish the habit of praying for that person every day of your life. The Urantia Book

gossip

Let’s face it. It’s fun to gossip and fun to criticize others. At least some of the time! It’s also true that when we criticize we don’t feel too good about our selves. It actually saps our self-esteem and energy.

self-esteem

A low self-esteem is the root of all evil. Yes, think about that. When we feel low due to a tanking self-esteem, we’re often nasty to others, and when that’s taken to an extreme we can actually hurt others.

Prayer not only addresses this issue of self-esteem but also helps us change our attitude towards other people who we so love to criticize!

Daily Affirmation: Today I feel better because I pray for others!

What’s The Original Sin?

Imagine the universe beautiful and just and perfect. Then be sure of one thing: The Is has imagined it quite a bit better than you have. The original sin is to limit the Is. Don’t.Richard Bach

the original sin

When we limit others and ourselves we commit the ‘original sin’. How? One example is when we think we know ‘Truth’ and that it’s our job to enlighten others with our knowledge. Sometimes we forget that the ‘Is’, God, reveals itself and expresses itself through everyone and through all that we see. This happened not just in the past (via messengers and holy texts) but also continues to happen today, now! Why? Because God is a living god and his expression through his creation is never ending…..

imagine

The antidote to the original sin is to open our minds, imagine great things and allow others to do the same. Let’s not limit others (and us) by pre-conceived notions and small thinking. Our future and the world’s salvation depends on it!

Daily Affirmation: Today I imagine big!

How Resentment Kills…

Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.  – Carrie Fisher

poison

All negative energies that we generate, hurt us. That includes anger, jealousy, resentment, fear, lack of esteem, dread etc. As we generate them through our thoughts and memories, these feelings vibrate a certain frequency, and it’s the same frequencies that affect our mind and body in a negative manner. Over time repeated bombardments weaken our immune system and make us susceptible to all kinds of physical and mental maladies.

elixir

Why not drink elixir instead? Drink from the fountain of love that proceeds from our very depths. Awaken this mother lode of joy by practicing unconditional loving and kindness while meditating as well as through-out the day.  Not easy but certainly a habit worth cultivating!

Daily Affirmation: Today I drink the elixir of goodness and love.

Which Wolf?

Which wolf will win? The one you feed.  – Cherokee Wisdom

the story of the 2 wolves

I came across this story again lately, you’ve probably read it before:

A Cherokee elder was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me… it is a terrible fight between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, hatefulness, and lies. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, humbleness, kindness, friendship, generosity, faith, and truth.

This same fight is going on inside of you, and inside every other person, too.” The children thought about it for a minute. Then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The Cherokee elder replied… The one you feed.

which wolf?

We exercise a choice with each thought. When we’re not thinking, or when tired, vengeful or irritated we tend to feed our darker side. When we choose the way of goodness, faith, humility, love and kindness we support that which upholds the entire universe, the Truth.

Question: What choice do I tend towards?

Daily Affirmation: Today I feed the goodness inside me.

Feelings…

Never apologize for showing feeling.  When you do so, you apologize for the truth.  Benjamin Disraeli

what we feel

What we feel is what we are. From our feelings we truly know, not just through our intellect, what’s good/bad, right or wrong. In fact feelings are a great guide to what we’re thinking. When thinking positive and happy, we have happy feelings, when worried or fearful our feelings reflect just that. So if we ever want to be cognizant of our thinking, let’s ask  “How am I feeling right now?’

the truth

Let’s acknowledge the fullness of our being by accepting our feelings. Let’s do the same in others. Let’s not disparage a person who appears to ‘feel’ more than ‘think’, who is more ‘emotional’ than logical. All is valuable. Let’s hone in on that which is of value.

Daily Affirmation: Today I value feeling.
