Fear drives a lot of our behavior. We fear loss of relationships, health or wealth and that leads to our reactions to life and to others. The flip side is love. When we experience love, fear has no place inside us. To eliminate fear, which we all want to do, 2 things, in my opinion are necessary:

  1. Faith: A faith in the goodness of the Universe, in God and in the ultimate triumph over any and all evil.
  2. Love: With that faith as our basis we can attempt to connect with that very energy that resides within us. This energy is Love itself.

As we start connecting with that deep peace within us, love gushes up just like a spring fountain! That love then must be distributed to others through genuine service if we are to maintain it. The divine loop is complete: God <—> Self <—> Others. Then love starts to flow through us, from God to others and non-violence is the natural result. We’re fearless because nothing of consequence can hurt us. Life is wonderful!

God’s focus is on us! We are supremely valuable to her, we may be able to do without her for some time but she can’t do without us even for a moment! Can we believe that? Our self-worth suffers tremendously when we don’t accept this essential spiritual fact in faith. And herein lies the key to ‘peace beyond all understanding’.

Krsna the supreme personality, according to The Gita, confidently declares that a fragment of divinity becomes us. We spring from that bit of eternity which is at our core. Let’s ponder the significance of this idea…

life purpose

We are thoroughly confused. We know not wherefrom we come and we know not whereto we’re headed. As we grow physically and mentally, is it not an imperative that we grow spiritually as well? Should we not question why we exist? Should we not attempt to understand the goal of life?

We pray for all sorts of things and most times it’s a monologue emanating from us in the direction of divinity. God already knows what we might want or could ever need; maybe our time is better spent opening up to God? Maybe we should just be listening?

By opening up to God’s exhortations to us, and yes he does talk to us, we allow for maximum spiritual growth and happiness. After all God is our Father and Mother. He’s continuously communicating with us. We can’t hear him because we don’t attempt to listen. Sitting quietly opens us up to listening… We can then change for our own benefit and therefore everyone else’s benefit, and that apparently is part of the plan…

We use meditation to still our mind. When the mind’s still it connects to Spirit more readily. Without stilling our mind the electro-chemical nature of our body and mind makes it exceedingly difficult to make such contact. Let’s practice stillness.

As we increase our contact with Spirit, life becomes easier, we become more peaceful, we’re suddenly more creative, we’re happier, life is good and continues to be an adventure! Loving everyone becomes a whole lot easier!

If there’s a God, if there’s Universal Intelligence, then that which created us supports us, keeps us safe, loves us, guides us, inspires us and leads us forward…. A spark from God is at our core. Our challenge is to seek that spark; the first step in that direction is to accept that such a thing is possible…And that is Faith.
