“He didn’t acknowledge the help I gave him, therefore I don’t have to do this new thing for him’. That’s how the logic runs in our minds. We justify our thoughts about another so that we can feel ok about our current actions towards that person. That’s a root cause to why it’s so hard to improve our relationships with people in general.

Such a way of thinking is sensed by the other person and this creates a vicious cycle that dooms the relationship. Becoming aware of this tendency allows us to design our own thoughts about others. Then we can be more objective and also improve our current relationship with them.

When we limit others and ourselves we commit the ‘original sin’. How? An example is when we think we know ‘Truth’ and that it’s our job to ‘enlighten’ others with our knowledge. Sometimes we forget that the ‘Is’, God, reveals itself and expresses itself through everyone and through all that we see and experience. This happened not just in the past (via messengers and holy texts) but also continues to happen today, now! Why? Because God is a living god and his expression through his creation is never ending…..

The antidote to the original sin is to open our minds, imagine great things and allow others to do the same. Let’s not limit others (and us) by pre-conceived notions and small thinking. Our future and the world’s salvation depends on it!
