The Eternal in Man

2.72 This is the Eternal in man, O Arjuna. Reaching him all delusion is gone. Even in the last hour of his life upon earth … man can find peace in the peace of his God.The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 2)

the eternal

There is an eternal presence, an everlasting component inside man, one that doesn’t change and one that connects us to the One Source and Center.

peace in God

This eternal peace within is accessible. It’s approachable when our mind is in harmony, it’s still, when we desire to find that peace and when we make time to allow for that contact. Please see this page on Stillness, all it takes is 5 minutes twice a day!

Daily Affirmation: Today I find my peace in God.

Bad Luck

Bad luck is universal. Don’t take it personally.  – Solomon Short

bad and good

Bad and good is often in the eye of the beholder and in the way the chips ultimately fall. What’s bad for us today may turn out to be good for a larger group of people than just you and I, even for you and I. Luck is often a matter of expectation. The thoughts and expectations that consume us daily resolve into our life today and tomorrow…

taking it personally

The world is not all about us. When others are unkind, it’s not about us, it’s mainly about them. We lash out at others, get angry and make judgments because of our own universe of thought and experiences. When good comes our way it’s ok to take it personally, although when it goes away we’ll feel sadder. When ‘bad’ comes our way, then certainly it’s not about us. Let’s accept reality for what it is and figure out a way forward…You are not alone.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM my good luck.

It’s Me Not Them…

Only when we learn to channel the energy we direct toward winning over others into winning over ourselves can we begin to develop our humanity.Daisaku Ikeda

focus inwards

There’s a time and a season for everything, isn’t there? There’s a time to be outward looking, which is ideal when we’re giving or learning. We shouldn’t be looking elsewhere for approval or recognition. Then there’s time to be inward looking, reflective and thoughtful, finding and executing on opportunities to improve ourselves.

win over self

The biggest life quest is over self. It’s true understanding of our inclinations, motivations and failings. Then it’s a fine balance to improve ourselves without self-excoriation and without putting ourselves on a guilt trip. We must be patient with ourselves just like God is with us, her children.

Daily Affirmation: Today I win over self.

Thoughts R Us!

Tell me to what you pay attention, and I will tell you who you are.  – José Ortega y Gasset

our attention

We are creators of our own universe. The creation occurs through the vehicle of our thoughts, intentions, expectations and actions. Whatever we dwell upon, materializes in some fashion. It pays to pay attention to our attention.

TIE (thoughts, intentions, expectations) + Action

So the formula (TIE + Action = Creation), while hard to implement, is very simple in concept. Focus attention on that which we want. If we spend more time worrying, we fuel those vibrations to attract more of their kind. If we’re joyous and carefree, we’ll attract a life that’s filled with joy and a lack of things to worry about. Where are you putting your attention today?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM creatively attentive!

No End …

There is no end to you; there is no end to me; because there is no end to Him.  -  a teacher

our origin

God thought us up. We take from his consciousness, his creativity and his dreams! That’s the way we’re made in God’s image. We are truly children of God, and brothers/sisters to each other.

never ending story, it is

We’re meant to last forever. Rejoice, we’re watched and ultimately safe, abandon all worry and fear, rest easy. Life is good…

You Are Not a Formula!

Always in motion is the futureMaster Yoda

formulas

We all seek formulas in life. Examples of formulas may be:

  • Routines that we build into our daily lives
  • Special prayers that are repeated to effect changes
  • Superstitions that are employed
  • Special spiritual or life approaches that appear to work

Formulas do work sometime; especially for the short term and for machine oriented situations. We are not machines though.

in motion

Life, and the future, is ever in motion. Formulas bind and restrict. How can we stay flexible? How can we dynamically adapt to life? How can we move with the waves of life, ever towards greater fulfillment and happiness?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM flexible in thought, word and action!

Real Wealth

Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.  – Oscar Wilde

transient stuff

Stuff doesn’t last. Which means its value is worth questioning. Which also begs the question: What does last?

real value

Does our awareness, our identity, our personality, last? That’s left to what we believe, one might say. It’s my experience that with belief, faith, comes the slow realization that we’re part of something infinitely larger, a loving presence. This presence deepens with the practice of Stillness. Such an experience constitutes personal proof that we last, forever. If we last then so do others. Relationships then are of paramount and lasting value.

Daily Affirmation: Today I value people.
