Why We Must Operate From The Heart!

Where-so-ever you go, go with all your heart. Confucius

there we are

Where ever we go, we take us along. We can’t escape us. Often it’s in recognizing that we’re trying to escape a situation or a feeling, that our biggest growth may lie. Let’s become more aware of what we avoid and try to escape, let’s become more real.

from the heart!

We often operate only from the brain, the mind, from the region of the head. Once we notice that, we could move our attention down to our heart region and live from that orientation. Our thoughts, our actions, our attitude, our demeanor and therefore our life-results will be quite different. Let’s try that!

Love People, Use Things!

What most people need to learn in life is how to love people and use things instead of using people and loving things.  – Anon (Radhanath)

love things?

Do we love things more than people? We all do some of that and probably more than we should. People and relationships ought to be our most important focus in life. Relationships are the only ‘real’ thing that we’ll take with us beyond this physical life…

love people…

We can never be poor if we focus our lives on loving others. Imagine that! Love family, friends, folks at work and everywhere else! Won’t that guarantee a successful life? With loving relationships comes happiness in every aspect of life. What could possibly be lacking?

Why Angels Surround Us!

To accept the guidance of a seraphim rarely means attaining a life of ease. In following this leading you are sure to encounter, and if you have the courage, to traverse, the rugged hills of moral choosing and spiritual progress.  – The Urantia Papers

meaningful life

I’m enjoying reading a very touching book by Mary C. Neal M.D. ‘To Heaven And Back’ these days. Mary shares numerous events from her life where the hand-of-God is very evident. She ‘dies’ during a kayaking accident in Chile and experiences first-hand what we all will probably experience sooner or later. God and his angelic helpers are constantly around us! They’re forever working to make life more meaningful to us. Their involvement in our lives becomes more focused when we invite God into our lives.

rejoice, pray and thank!

Soon after her accident Mary tries to read a Gideon Bible at the hospital. Her vision is very blurry though so she’s unable to read any words on the pages. As she thumbs through some of the pages she’s astonished to notice that the following 3 quotes stand out very clearly:

  • “Rejoice always.” —1 Thessalonians 5:16 (ESV)
  • “Pray without ceasing.” —1 Thessalonians 5:17 (ESV)
  • “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God’s in Christ Jesus for you.” —1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)

What great advice for all of us! Mary’s book is highly recommended if we’re looking to be comforted about God’s involvement in our daily lives!

Why There’s A Plank In Our Eyes!

How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? Matthew 7:4

us first

It’s so easy to point the finger at someone else. Why is that? What makes us so blinded to our own foibles and short-comings? Why do we become so full of self that we can’t see the myriad ways we need to change?

life principles

24th Dale Carnegie Principle: Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.

Here’s a story from the book:

"Like many engineers, I have not been noted for my excellent English or spelling. For years I have kept a little black thumb – index book for words I had trouble spelling. When it became apparent that merely pointing out the errors was not going to cause my secretary to do more proofreading and dictionary work, I resolved to take another approach. When the next letter came to my attention that had errors in it, I sat down with the typist and said:
" ‘Somehow this word doesn’t look right. It’s one of the words I always have had trouble with. That’s the reason I started this spelling book of mine. [I opened the book to the appropriate page.] Yes, here it is. I’m very conscious of my spelling now because people do judge us by our letters and misspellings make us look less professional.
"I don’t know whether she copied my system or not, but since that conversation, her frequency of spelling errors has been significantly reduced."

How To Love Anyone!

Since God knows all about his children, it is easy for him to forgive. The better man understands his neighbor, the easier it will be to forgive him, even to love him.  – The Urantia Papers

forgiving

How beautiful! The reason God forgives so easily, or actually doesn’t even need to forgive in the first place is because God knows us completely! He knows why we do what we do and that we’re eternally beautiful on the inside. He also knows that the rough edges wear-off over time and that the final product is beautiful and perfect! Always…

and loving

So what can we do to easily forgive others? Adopt ‘God’s Way’ of viewing others and self. Only through deeply understanding others and self can we love them and us too. This has to be the biggest imperative for our society…

Why Love Is The Answer…

To love and win is the best thing. To love and lose, the next best.  – William M. Thackeray

love

People will irritate us. They will be selfish and thoughtless. They will often disappoint us. Relationships will sometimes result in sorrow. Let’s love anyway…

more love

To love is the highest action we can undertake. Being love is the highest way to be. Love is the fabric of this universe, it’s the defining principle and very purpose of all life. Nothing can go ‘wrong’ when we love in response to anyone and any situation.
