Eat, Drink And Be Merry!

Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may diet!Fortune Coookie!

If we only listen the Universe provides us with all the advice, guidance and direction we need. We must listen and do so in ways and means that go far beyond our normal modes of receiving information. If we think that we live in a disconnected and material world then that belief will become real for us. We’ll feel more fear and less sure about everything. In fact that’s exactly what goes on with most of us… How must we change our thinking?

now!

Now is all we’ve got! How are we going to spend it? What’s most important to us? What makes us happy? What makes others happy? How can we succeed together? How are we all connected? How can we rely on God?

Why We Must Co-Create…

… and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.  – Matthew 8:13

happy now

We must become conscious creators of our own lives. We do that by designing our belief structures, daily. The simplest way to live a happy life is to be happy now. By being happy now we signal to the Universe that we trust it, that we know all-is-well and that we expect no real harm to befall us.

co-design

If we choose to be truly fulfilled, we must partner with the ultimate creative force, God. God knows it all and is our parent. By partnering with God we choose to go beyond self. We enter the territory where we become partners for a larger outcome. This outcome is envisioned by God in its totality and we may earn the privilege to learn about and to partially implement against this grand and eternal plan. Are we willing?

Why Not To Say ‘But’!

Simply changing one three-letter word can often spell the difference between failure and success in changing people… Dale Carnegie

but…

Who amongst us doesn’t make sentences like the following when talking to others?

What you say makes a lot of sense but this is what I have to say…

How effective is such an approach? What would happen if we replace the ‘but’ with an ‘and’? As soon as the other person hears us say ‘but’ they start to tune us out and build up mental defenses. When we want to point out an error in another’s way of doing (or being) something, let’s do so as tactfully as possible.

life principles

23rd Dale Carnegie Principle: Call attention to people’s mistakes indirectly.

Here’s a story from the book:

Charles Schwab was passing through one of his steel mills one day at noon when he came across some of his employees smoking. Immediately above their heads was a sign that said "No Smoking." Did Schwab point to the sign and say, "Can’t you read.? Oh, no not Schwab. He walked over to the men, handed each one a cigar, and said, "I’ll appreciate it, boys, if you will smoke these on the outside." They knew that he knew that they had broken a rule – and they admired him because he said nothing about it and gave them a little present and made them feel important. Couldn’t keep from loving a man like that, could you?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM an ‘and’, not a ‘but’ kind of person!

make music, now!

How long will we hold back? When will we express the gifts that we’ve been blessed with? Do we even know what our gifts are? When will we leap? What’s stopping us? What music can we make today??

Why We Must Praise First!

Beginning with praise is like the dentist who begins his work with Novocain. The patient still gets a drilling, but the Novocain is painkilling.Dale Carnegie

begin with praise!

If we have to find fault with another and convey news that might not be palatable to their ego then how should we do it? We can start by genuinely praising the individual. This sets the stage to deliver the harsh truth. It opens the individual up to receive the truth about their actions. Let’s be practitioners of the ‘Art of Relationships’!

leadership principles

22nd Dale Carnegie Principle: Begin with praise and honest appreciation..

Here’s a story from the book:

A friend of mine was a guest at the White House for a weekend during the administration of Calvin Coolidge. Drifting into the President’s private office, he heard Coolidge say to one of his secretaries, "That’s a pretty dress you are wearing this morning, and you are a very attractive young woman."
That was probably the most effusive praise Silent Cal had ever bestowed upon a secretary in his life. It was so unusual, so unexpected, that the secretary blushed in confusion. Then Coolidge said, "Now, don’t get stuck up. I just said that to make you feel good. From now on, I wish you would be a little bit more careful with your Punctuation."
His method was probably a bit obvious, but the psychology was superb. It is always easier to listen to unpleasant things after we have heard some praise of our good points.

Why We Must All Be Free!

I wish that every human life might be pure transparent freedom.  – Simone de Beauvoir

happy independence day

July 1st and July 4th mark independence for Canada and the United States, respectively, congratulations!! Independence Days by Month and Country.

We ought to be free. What does that mean?

We should be free of fear. We should be free of our biases and ignorance.  We should free ourselves of our limiting assumptions. We should be free of all negativity. We should free others of our expectations. We should freely forgive everyone including self. We should be free to love. We should be free of others’ opinions of us. We should be free of what society thinks we should be doing or wearing.

We should free ourselves from excessive materialism. We should free some time up to devote to God. We should free some time up to serve others.

Why We Must ‘Be’ First!

That which is like unto itself is drawn.  – Abraham

vibrations

Like attracts like. This orderly Universe is run by predictable laws. Many of these laws like the one we’re discussing are ‘spiritual’ in nature. How can we live and practice this law successfully?

be-come

We must first ‘be’ what we intend to actualize in our lives. The word ‘become’ provides a clue! Be first, then allow the manifestation of that vibration into our lives, let it come! So if are to become something, we must visualize it, feel it deeply (in our mind and body) and thus stoke those vibrations into our experience. The rest is to simply allow it to manifest without investing ourselves into ‘how’ it’ll happen or any other such expectation!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM what I intend to be!
