Everyone wants to know where God is. And how to contact her. Some say he’s right here and is ‘closer than your own breath’. What nonsense is this? If she’s right here and ‘closer than our own breath’ then how come we can’t put a finger on that experience?
I’ve wrestled with this dilemma and have found an answer. Our beingness, our very presence, the awareness that we are, which looks out and which experiences all experience, is what is us. This essence is what this quote refers to. This essence is also God expressing itself as us, as this awareness which is our core identity.
