What’s Missing?

The problem is you were meant for growth and you’re not growing.Vernon Howard

unhappiness

Many of us, at least some of the time, feel that something’s missing. We don’t feel we’re in control of our own destiny and happiness. Something is amiss, what is it? What are we lacking?

an answer

Change is ever present. And growth is the very hallmark of life and the universe. That’s the very reason we exist, for growth. If we don’t grow mentally and spiritually we stagnate and something deep inside us, our soul, feels the discontent. That discontent is what we sense. The way around it is to actively seek growth and not get used to living in our comfort zone. Meaningful growth then is the key to banishing this discontent!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM a growth seeker!

How To Earn Respect…

When we treat children with respect, they in turn learn how to respect other human beings.Daisaku Ikeda

give respect

To earn respect we must give respect. And we must give it genuinely. When we do that the other person sees us more generously. Generosity automatically earns respect. Generous listening is the next step; it’s the icing on the cake and it’s the most giving thing any human can do.

all children

We’re all children at heart. We want to be appreciated, heard, loved and respected. If we treat everyone we meet as childlike individuals we won’t have too many relationship problems. Therefore we won’t have too many life problems. Interacting with others from a childlike perspective is about as close as it gets to a ‘silver bullet’ for all of society’s ills!

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM full of childlike respect!

How To Be Accepted By All

Mind is the laboratory and thoughts the instruments we use to create aspects of our life. Once we know how much our thinking impacts our life we realize the importance of designing our thoughts! Let’s be artists and paint beautiful thoughts for us and everyone else…

goes around, comes around

How do we view life? How do we approach and judge people? The way we show up is how life shows up for us. The way we judge others (the energies we unleash), we are judged too, in other words ‘what goes around comes around’. Our judgmental thoughts follow the trajectory that we’ve triggered which is why we must design even our judgments!

¿Quién Soy Yo or Qui Suis-je?

Who am I?Neale Donald Walsch

fundamental questions!

Neale calls them the 3 persistent questions and the 4 fundamental questions of life! Here’s the first fundamental question that we ought to ask self…

who am i?

This question can generate numerous multi-faceted enquiries and possible answers. We may ask from the perspective of biology, sociology, religion, philosophy, country, race, family and the universe! But ask we must. It’s essential that we gain some understanding of how we view self because that will guide how we view others and therefore our relationships with them and the world.

There’s also the question of the little ‘i’ and the big ‘I’. The question can be asked iteratively and through-out our lives! It’s not a question that can ever fully be answered either!

What Would We Do Differently?

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?Questions…

what’s holding us back?

Something holds us back from giving life our best shot. Something also holds us back from trying new things or doing things differently! What is this something?

fear of failure?

Is it fear of failure, of being judged by others or judged by self? Or is it laziness and procrastination? Are we lazy because we fear failure or judgment? This kind of self-knowledge is crucial to our growth, our fulfillment and happiness. What are we doing about it?

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM jumping in!

How Can We Find Value In What We Do?

The value of life does not depend upon the place we occupy. It depends upon the way we occupy that place.Thérèse of Lisieux

do

We focus mostly on our ‘place’ in life. I.e. what we’ve earned or achieved in life or in our jobs. In other words we underscore what we’ve done and what we’ve gathered along the way.

be

The ‘way’ we do our job, play our roles as a child, sibling, spouse or parent appears to be more important. The ‘way’ we show up as a human being, as a student, a worker and as a world citizen seems more crucial. Being must come first. Being must come from our core values and from our high ideals. Being must also come from our aspirations and hopes. Then what follows, the doing, will be of even greater value! More here: BeZenDo Revisited!

Why The ‘Big Picture’ Matters…

Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal.A Course in Miracles (ACIM)

the small picture

We’re head-deep into maya, or what we may call the ‘small picture’. Our view and experience is extremely circumscribed. We’re boxed in by our culture, our country, our gender, our thoughts (assumptions/biases) and by matter itself.

the big picture

Only by glimpsing the big picture can we hope to feel better about all that goes on in our lives and around the world. That glimpse is more easily caught when we believe in a Creator in whom we have faith. Faith and hope are the vehicles which can bring us peace in the current moment… Once we find that peace then healing (of any sort) can start to take place.

Daily Affirmation: Today I AM hopeful.
